"I visited Palm Vista Senior Living's assisted living for my sister. The lady who gave the tour was nice. She sat me down and broke everything down to me. She showed me their daily activities, their meals, the room, and the price range. They're out of our price range. The room I saw was small, and it's for two people. The place was nice and clean, though. The dining area was nice, and the community room with the TV was a nice size. There were tables in there, and people were playing dominoes and cards. The parking was okay; they're working on it."

"I would recommend Westside Villa, if your family member is more advanced in aging. I think they are very caring when it comes to that. They were wonderfully taking care of the women that were there. It was a clean and nice place. If someone is more vocal and mobile with Alzheimer's, I wouldn't recommend it. I don't think that the two caregivers have the right knowledge for that. In their little description, they say they have activities, but they don't have any. The owners are fantastic though. I have eaten their food, and it was good."

"The administrator and staff are very accommodating. They take their time preparing the patients' meals. There are many amenities including private bedrooms and a nice backyard. The facility is clean and inviting. The furniture is tasteful and comfortable. There aren't very many activities that the patients can do on their free time, however. The administrator's permits, awards and certificates are displayed near the front door. During the summer, the facility has the air conditioner running constantly in order to maintain a comfortable, cool temperature for the residents. The staff is very hospitable. They were available to the residents during my visit. They cleared the table for the residents to eat at the table, instead of bringing their food to their rooms all the time. This makes this elderly care home very "homey" and comfortable. "

"Mom is in Forever Love Home Care, Inc. It is a small place. They're wonderful. They were recommended by two of the nurses from the hospice. They are very caring, and they are very good with her. They watch everything. It's like a family unit. They're on everything. It's a home, it has a backyard, and she goes to sit outside. They have little roses along the fence. They play games if they want and watch TV. They have dinner together at the kitchen table or the dining room table. Mark and Maylene are really great. If there's an issue, they call me. They send me pictures of her sitting outside. They keep me up-to-date on her adjusting there, because she's having a hard time adjusting. She has dementia. The staff is great. They're there all the time. Somebody's on 24 hours because my mom wakes up in the middle of the night yelling for me. They have food and snacks. They have everything. They cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's very nice. It is a five-bedroom home. The owner has a music therapist who comes in and plays music with the other woman who's there. They had a really good time singing. They watch TV, which my mom really doesn't do because she can't focus. They keep them engaged and talking and I told them I didn't want my mom to stay in her room just because I want her to be out, and they make sure she comes out. She eats breakfast. She stays out in the family room and interacts with them. They go by what they want to do. They don't force them to do anything, nor do they leave them, like at other nursing homes, where they just sit there. They keep her engaged in conversation or what's going on. She always says that nobody comes to see her. So now, Maylene, every time we come, she takes a picture so that when she says nobody comes to see her, she shows her the picture. The value is good because she has 24-hour care."

"My sister has been at B & M Care for Elderly Inc for 4 months now, but she is not happy there. They're oriental and they serve a lot of oriental food. There's also a language barrier, so they have a hard time understanding her. For me, it's a very nice place. It's a brand-new home in a good neighborhood. They're very nice people, as well. They're very courteous and we're very happy with them. They have private and shared rooms. The room that my sister is in has a big patio and a big brand new shed. They have a Jacuzzi/whirlpool facility inside. They have an area where they bring the residents to watch TV and it's very quiet. They have a nice dining area. It's a one-story home with a big island kitchen. It's very spacious and nice. The backyard is nice and well-kept with grass and roses. There's only one caregiver and sometimes her husband helps her. She cooks and does everything. She's nice to all the people. She prepares them to bed early around 4 or 5. And in the morning, they get up early as well."

"We had Mom at Ace's Westcastle. They had two staff members that handled nursing, so she got the same person every day and every evening. We got a lot more consistency and had a lot less problems. The staff was the best, very attentive, very caring, very knowledgeable, and very helpful. They took her to doctors' appointments, and picked up her medicine at no extra charge."

"We ended up going with Evergreen Elderly, and they are awesome. The place is clean, and the staff is very compassionate, comfortable, welcoming, and made mom feel at home. It's pleasant. They work with physical therapy, and most of the patients had some dementia so they get them up, play games with them, and have TV time and quiet time. They worked with my mom’s physical therapy, sat with her and talked with her. It was just nice having some one-on-one care. "

"My brother moved into the Antelope Valley Care Center. It was a clean place. They do a better job of taking care of their patients. It was like a hospital. It's pretty big. They get physical therapy. They have a playroom. They bring them out and let them listen to music. The staff members are OK. A lot of them are really nice. They treat you with courtesy, but I had to call an emergency on my brother because they weren't doing the pain management properly. They have been getting him out of bed and taking him into the rec room."

"I toured Leisure Garden Senior Assisted Living. The place smelled like cigarette smoke. It did not appear to be clean. It just got a bad taste right from you walking in. I only met one staff member."
