"I am visiting a friend who lives in Cortina D Arroyo Grande, an independent living community. I like that they have a community room, a very nice laundry setup, and an elevator for easy access. They also have gated parking, lighted halls, and security. The floors are hardwood laminate, and the kitchen is very conveniently set up. The place is very pretty. It has a koi pond and a little park in the middle, and it's very attractive. They post the list of activities in the hallway. They do different ones throughout the year, and I've seen a few. They have a wine club and do knitting, crocheting, and baking."

"Oak Park Manor graciously accepted and cared for my uncle in his last days. The staff and owner exceeded all of our expectations in giving him compassionate individualized care. We were so impressed by the staffs ability to gain his trust and provide for all of his needs and wants including a private room. My family and I enthusiastically recommend this facility and all of its providers. "

"I thought Wyndham Residence was real nice. We like the activities that are available for my mom. My mom liked it a lot, and that probably would be our first choice. The room was quite nice. They have a living room area and a kitchen. Then there is a separate room for the bedroom and bathroom. They have a nice safe walk-in shower with a bench and rails. I like the feeling of it being a smaller facility so my mom wouldn't feel so overwhelmed. They have just about everything you could think of as far as activities is concerned. "

"My mom has been at Alder House for four months now. It's very good. It's very home-like, and the employees are unbelievable. It has been a wonderful fit for my mother. They have to take her to the bathroom, and they have to help her get dressed. It's an assisted living residence place. Their employees are very, very thoughtful and very caring. My mom never waits for anything. I have absolutely no complaints of any kind. The rooms are very nice. It's carpeted. She has her own outside door and big windows. It's very comfortable. My mom has no complaints at all about the food and neither do I. The cook will do anything special or change anything. Anything he has, she can have. The dining area is very nice. It's a very warm room with lots of windows that face the patio. The tables are nice. There are wooden tables and chairs and lots of nice pictures. For activities, they play bingo, they have lots of games, they have a puzzle table, they have a movie of the week, and they have musical entertainment a couple of times a month. They have a game room, and they do exercises a couple of days a week. I would recommend it to anybody."

"My mother has been at AGCC for nearly a month. Everytime I visit, I observe more and more things that impress me. The rooms are spotless.. The nurses are friendly and professional. The physical therapists are very knowlegable and take time to communicate with me regarding my mom's treatment. The aids are sweet, attentive, and skilled. The activities are varied. My mom is very shy and has never been one to socialize. The last time i visited her, she asked me to take her to the recreation room. "I think i should get back now and be with my friends," she said. Another day she told me, "At night, it is just like a big happy family." Even the other patients are delightful and warm hearted. I am so relieved to know that my mom is in such good hands. "My friend went to a small facility called The Park Grove - San Luis Obispo. It was a 6-bed facility, and they were fantastic. Their assessment was excellent, and the care was above and beyond. It made her final days as comfortable as could possibly be made. A couple works there and runs the place, and I can't give them high enough regards. They were just so accommodating and so organized. They said if there was no news, it was good news, and if there was news, then they would text me. They had great communication skills and just fabulous. Everything about the facility was fantastic. They cook, and they do it all. They were just so dedicated. It made her transition as peaceful as possible. I went to four facilities in person and did a virtual tour of one, so a total of five, and Park Grove was the least expensive and had the most personal one-on-one care. I had such a good feeling from the owners that it was the best place for her that I could find."

"The therapists at Mission View Health Center were very good, and the aides were very helpful. The staff was very attentive and treated us well. One of my therapists downloaded some apps for me, like puzzles to work on my memory and cognitive skills. Some days, the food was very good, but other days, it was fair. The nice thing was that you can request certain things. I talked to the nutritionist and told her how I missed yogurt, so right away, she sent me yogurt and had it in every meal since then. They fed you regularly right on time. They had two different outdoor areas, and I usually went to the smaller one because it was right off of my room. It had a small garden and a little koi pond. It looked very pleasant, especially at sunset."

"The facility was clean and the meals were wonderful and on time. The staff was professional. The rooms offered variety as far as living conditions and they were well furnished. The doctors and nurses were available. The medications were given as ordered. The garden area was well kept. The television was not too loud or on too long. The activities were well planned. This is a place that I would not be worried about placing one of my own family members. They are very nice to visitors and willing to answer questions. The location is quiet and peaceful, yet close enough to down town, the hospital and shopping. The residents were well cared for in my opinion. I also liked the fact that it was not too large. This way it was not noisy and the residents were not overwhelming for the staff. They did not loose items that belonged to the residents. "

"My mother stayed at San Luis Transitional Care for several months. I love that place. The rooms entered onto a center open area/common area, so that if you're in your room, you could still be in the main part of the facility and shut your door if you wanted. There was a roommate situation. It had outdoor patios on each room, so that I could take her out and you could sit outside and go for walks on their concrete walkways and wheelchairs and walkers were very easily used. There was a big glass door in each room. There were two main areas on either end and then the nursing staff was in the middle. They had physical therapy every day except for Sunday and dog and cat groups visited. They had bingo and activities in the evening after dinner. They had special movie nights with popcorn, and Sundays they had ice cream day. Ahead of time you could order lunch and eat with your parents. I had an issue with one of the nurses; she was not happy with the fact that I was calling so often and interrupting her rounds and she would not call me back. They got annoyed with me. I liked the building itself because it wasn't big. They're only a 50-patient facility, so it makes it easier for the nursing staff to give more time and more attention. They had someone who fell and hit their head and had to go to the hospital, but their nursing staff was spread so thin."

"I visited Vista Rosa for my friend. That is the cream of the crop, but it was also very expensive. They have the best activities. It was the Cadillac of senior living, and for the right person that also would be a fabulous place. For a single room it's $8,500- $9,000 a month. I was able to see things through the walkway inside and looked in the window to see the rooms. They had a very nice staff, first rate food, and pretty exceptional facilities. Right at the base of San Luis Mountain it is just impeccable in terms of location. It was like a five-star resort, if I could be so bold. Everybody in the staff of that establishment was just amazing."

"The Villages of San Luis Obispo is our second choice. We just went crazy on the size of the units. They were small because of the fact they took over student housing instead of building from the ground for senior citizens. The bathrooms are very tiny. They had some nice units called the cottages. We weren’t able to tour the rooms because they were 100 percent occupied. Their dining rooms were nice, and they had a swimming pool. Their building was nicely decorated too. They have a lot to offer. They have clubs and bingo game going on when we were there. I was impressed with the people. Everybody we encountered was super friendly. It was mainly the lady who gave us a tour. She was terrific, and the front desk staff. "
