A Heavenly Home in Union Road

My brother moved into A Heavenly Home. This place is really good. It's expensive, but it's right for him because he needs a lot. I mean, he's just on the edge of assisted care and nursing care. And so it's the most care that you could get in an assisted care facility. I like the way these folks do that. He's adjusted quite well, so we can't be happier. The way that this place is built, there are six separate houses each. Each house has six patients or six residents. So you have a studio type of bedroom. It's fairly large, it's bigger than a hotel room. And so there's plenty of room, a private bath. When you walk in the front door, there's like three rooms on each side. And then you walk into the main hall and there's a dining table and a bar and kitchen, and then it goes right into the living room. It has a large fireplace and television with comfortable chairs. And each one of the homes has that. They have an attendant or a caregiver in each place, and then they have a med tech that goes from house to house. So, it's nice. The staff is good. The main thing about the staff is that when there is an issue, they jump right on it. They make sure that you work out any problems you have, and make sure you're happy before they move on. The owner is hands-on as well. He's right in the middle of everything. He loves the food and his health has improved dramatically in just a month because he's a bad diabetic and they've got his diabetes in line. Each house is small enough, if you don't like what is being served, the chef will make you something. And my brother said there's only been one time so far when he felt that he should do that. He said, the chef is just so concerned about making him happy, and he likes that. They have a lot more field trips. They take them out on the bus, last week they went to a winery for lunch. They're going to be going to a car show next week. They take them to the movies and at the facility they play bingo, they play different games like Uno, Mexican Train, and stuff like that. And yesterday they went out and helped plant the garden and they have a garden there. And the chef came out because he was going to use it for their dinner. So they help him plant the garden. And so they keep him busy.

A Heavenly Home in Union Road was very nice and very clean. My mom would have had to share a bathroom if she'll move there, but her bedroom would open up to its own private patio. So, that would have been very nice. I think she would have been happy there. The staff was very friendly and very understanding. I was happy to see them taking meals all in one room and my mom would have been able to use the toaster oven in the morning with assistance (as she likes to do that). The bathroom was all well kept and clean as well as the outside appearance, the yard, and everything else. I was very impressed by that.
