"We toured Hawkins Creek Assisted Living & Memory Care. It's not furnished, but it's a nice size and has a nice closet. They served three meals a day. The person who took us around was very efficient. They have a small area, but well-manicured and everything."

"Our tour of Arabella of Longview Independent Living was very good. They fed us lunch and it was a wonderful experience. They had an activities director and they play cards, dominos, and pool, they do exercises, and they take them on trips. It's an awesome place. The staff who showed us around was excellent, very friendly, very informative, and very nice. Everything was clean and excellent. The dining room was wonderful, nice, clean, and big. Everybody was friendly."

"My mother is at Parkview on Hollybrook and she's doing fine. It's been a much more relaxed atmosphere. There is still confusion because of her being new to the place, so it's taking time for her to get used to it. As far as the food is concerned, my mother has not complained about the food. She has been able to take every meal, 3 meals a day, and I have not heard her complain about being hungry. From what I see and from what I know, the amenities are very good. I like the place, I like the look of it, the overall general décor and the atmosphere is good. It's much better than where she was.As far as her activities, the staff there seems to be trying to include her in as many activities as possible, and she is even participating in some of the activities. This is according to what I'm being told by the staff. They have not done anything that I totally disagree with. They have been very nice, cordial to me and my mother and from that standpoint, I'm okay with them. They've been very good, very easy to work with and I appreciate that.I know that they have activities, I know that they are posted but I really have not paid much attention to it although I know that my mother has participated in some of them. The staff has been very friendly, very cordial, and very willing to help. Many times, they've gone out of their way to help and I appreciate that."

"My mother always said she would rather die than go into a nursing home. She used to volunteer at various nursing homes and was convinced that it was a place to wait to die. However, when she visited her sister-in-law at the Autumn Winds Assisted Living, she was very impressed with how nice it was and how friendly the staff were. Due to her health and many medications, she really needed assisted care and this place fit the bill. She has been there for 6 months now and is doing so much better with regulated medications and healthy food. She thoroughly enjoys the social activities and seems so much happier now. Thank you, Autumn Winds! "

"My husband has moved into Arabella of Kilgore Senior Living. It's three miles from my house. It's a beautiful facility. He has a nice room. The people there are very, very nice and very helpful. The food is okay. It's not the way I cook, but it's good. They have several programs during the day. When I go there to visit him, a lot of people are engaged in these programs, like games or doing things out in the dining room. My husband doesn't participate. He likes to stay by himself, though. It's kind of expensive, but it's a good place."

"Everything about Wesley Oaks is a 5: the building, facility, the staff, everybody. It's a beautiful, well-run place. The day that I showed up, they were having a cowboy day. They had a beautiful common area. Their rooms were decent and a good size with their own bathrooms. The staff were all over the place and not sitting around. I was shown the place by the director, who was very personal."

"My father is a resident of Trinity Timbers Assisted Living. Everything's great, he's getting along really good, and the people there are great. I couldn't have picked a better place. It's an 11-patient facility, he has his own room, a separate bath, they do everything else for him, laundry, clean up, and somebody is there 24/7. The staff is very sweet, very attentive, and just top rank in my opinion. They have a community living room and dining room area, they stood right there and wait with him, they watch TV, they worked puzzles with them, and they took them to see Christmas lights the other night on a bus. They've had 2 Christmas parties for them, or a family night, someone sang Christmas carols. Another night, they had an employee party, the residents were also included, and everybody got a Christmas gift. They really planned a lot of things, they try to make it a home-type atmosphere, and it's really a nice place. He likes the food, they do home-cook meals, and so it's really nice. It's a lot less expensive than some of the others that maybe had newer facilities, but with a lot of people, where he wouldn't get individual care, but here he does."

"Buckner Westminster Place is a 19-year-old facility, but it is first class in every way. It has independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care. It has beautiful grounds and fountains and is very upscale with many amenities included in the fee. "

"This facility has amazing management. The extensive dementia training that is provided is beneficial tomall their patients. The pricing is far better than the "fancy" places. This place is top-notch, and I am a very picky person. You will not go wrong here. "

"The Gardens is an assisted living facility in Hawkins, Texas. It is a type B facility that can care for residents who have more comprehensive needs than residents in a type A facility. Moreover, The Gardens accept CBA (Medicaid) as a payor source. I have visited The Gardens several times over the past couple of years. Staff were very friendly during my visits. The rooms are rather large for an assisted living facility. The two individuals I knew who lived there were both very pleased with the care they received. While The Gardens is far from being fancy, it is an excellent option for those who cannot afford a high priced assisted living environment. Also, for those who enjoy living in the country, The Gardens is located in a quiet rural area. However, the rural atmosphere can be an inconveniance as well. The assisted living is located about 30-40 minutes from the nearest hospital. I rate this assisted living a "four out of five". "

"My dad just moved in a little over a month ago. They just seem to be a little bit more personable, and it fits him better. They've been very friendly, they've really worked to meet some of the needs that he's been struggling with, and they've developed plans to take care of him. His room is very nice and pretty big. He's only been there a month, but I know they have church services that come in, a nice dining area, and some different things to do. For me, it's very convenient, because it's only about five-to-seven minutes from my house."

"We toured the Wesley House. I would rate everything highly except for the price and the facilities. There was nothing wrong with it, it's just a little older and wasn't as sharp and new-looking, but it was still definitely nice. They cost a little more than the other places we toured. The rooms were okay, they were not as large as the other community, but they were clean. The staff that gave me the tour was very personable. She was a very senior person there, she had been there for 20 years so she knew the facility and the people. I did not eat the food, they were eating while we were there and the residents seemed to be enjoying the meal."

"Wesley House was a fairly new and clean place. It looked like it was well taken care of. The rooms were comfortable for what they were. The residents seemed happy. It appeared that some had assigned tasks, which was good. The staff was helpful too. I was impressed with them. They would talk to the residents as we went through."
