Assisted Living Communities in Boardman, OH

"The Commons at Greenbriar is very clean. The director has been very accommodating and helpful with the move-in details. The residents are involved in planning day-to-day activities. The menu is varied, but it looks like the food that is served meets everybody's satisfaction. My dad is a very picky eater, but if you don't like something on the menu, there are other choices, like chicken sandwiches or hamburgers. I think it's a very good thing to have the residents participate in things that they really like; I think that's very beneficial."

"My husband and I visited Shepherd of the Valley to see if it was a good fit for my ailing mother. She is currently in her late 80s and we are no longer able to care for her like we can. My primary goals for her was to find a place that would keep her active for her age, have good nutritional options, and most of all caring and cleanly. I visited many other assisted living options in the Boardman, OH area and this one by far was the most cleanly and customer service friendly. My husband and I wanted to make the first visit to see what we think before taking my mother by to see it. Bridget the front counter rep was very courteous and welcoming. The cafeteria had great food offerings as well. I really do think that this one will be ranked in my top 3 places to narrow down to for her future care. I really liked that they would work with her primary care physician as well. "

"I toured The Blackburn Home. It's a little dated. It's an older building that was remodeled into being a retirement assisted living type of place. The rooms were small, the quarters were tight. It's just an older, smaller building. They were very attentive to my mom's needs. What she was looking for, and what she felt comfortable with, and that was very helpful in explaining to us what they would be able to assist her with there. So if somebody is looking for a smaller place where it's not as confusing with all the people in bigger areas to move around, it would be a nice place, but it is on the small side."

"We toured Marian Living Center. It was our second choice. It was nice where they were located in the building. They had enough for the assisted living plus. They also had nursing across time limits. A lot of the places only had nursing with the morning and the afternoon shift, and then they would have an aide watching on the night shift. They had a nurse 24/7 on the premises. It was very nicely laid out. There was a lot of community space there. I don't think there's anything to improve on. I believe they have a salon that they could go to, I know that they go on activities, and one of the things that they went on recently was they went on an outdoor concert. There were a lot of different things that they were doing."

"I have used this Nursing Facility twice & both times I had superior care. Both in staff, PT care, Hospitality, rooms with enemities & help for those needed. "

"I toured here. I was immediately shown to a small dining room. I was offered coffee. I was expecting a coffee in a Styrofoam cup, but it came in a regular cup with a saucer, and that just meant the world to me. I don't know why, but being served coffee that way, it did something. As I was waiting for the gentleman, everyone who walked by and saw me sitting there stopped and said hi. There were staff members and residents, and they were very friendly. The staff showed me around. It was very informative. It was lunchtime and I was asked if I would like to have lunch with them, and I did. I sat with two ladies who are residents there. Just in general conversation, they were nice. They offered encouraging words about the place. It was a very favorable first impression, and I was impressed by how friendly everybody was. They showed me all the different areas. And I like the idea that they have a lot of daily activities that are not mandatory. That's the only place that I looked at. I don't want to look at any place else, that's how impressed I was with it. I can see myself living there. When I got home, I had a question, so I called, and they provided an answer. I felt like I was valued by everybody. The staff was very knowledgeable about the place. He provided me with information. He gave me a copy of the activity schedule and a copy of the menu for the month. He is easy to talk to, very friendly, and personable. It was clean. It did not smell. The layout was good. There were no steps. The grounds were kept nice and neat. There were places outside to sit if you wanted to. Whatever they're doing, they're doing well, and I appreciated that. I didn't hear a bad comment from the residents. They're very welcoming. It's very inviting when you walk in. The surroundings, the environment, how it is decorated, and the cleanliness of it, it is just very inviting. It is somewhere that I would be proud to call my own. There are lots of areas to sit and mingle with friends and with other residents, so you're not stuck in your room. There are plenty of common areas to go and sit in that are comfortable. It's a very good experience. "

"She's been at The Inn at Ironwood for quite a few months now and she has been very, very happy with the facility. Her room is a nice size and the staff has been wonderful. She is more social than she has ever been, and she was never social to begin with. She has been much better than we thought she would. She has a one-bedroom suite and it is a nice size. We are able to fit several pieces of furniture, her television, and her bed. The kitchen has a small refrigerator and small sink, but with plenty of storage. Their price is quite a bit cheaper compared to others and that surprised me, so we are very, very happy with the place. "

"It was a very nice and clean facility. It's very pretty actually. It almost looked like a hotel. We were taken on a mini tour because we just randomly stepped in without any appointment. They were very gracious and helpful in walking us through the facility. Although we weren't able to go into any of the apartments in the independently living area because there were no vacancy at that time but they were very very helpful. They were quite expensive to be honest and this is a bit of a downfall when it comes to our decision making process. It's very nice yet very expensive. "

"Staff is really nice and helpful, Activities dept needs a lot of improvement. Resident say there's never anything happening except 1 night on Tuesday bingo that the excitement for the week. Residents say all they seem have everyday of the week is left up to them, it's usually "Residents Choice" on the weekly schedule."

"A nice facility to live at- friendly caring staff that go the extra mile. I have lived here many years. They help with my medicines and doctors- I always feel at home. "

"My mom was in rehab at Woodlands at Austinwoods Nursing Center. I thought the communication could be better. The remodelled facility was very, very nice. We lost some clothes there and the lady in laundry and head nurse were more than cooperative in trying to find the missing articles of clothing, and that happens in facilities like that. The new rehab unit is beautiful, but we can't use it now because of the COVID. I was only able to look at my mother through a window because they're on lockdown there."

"It's not as fancy as some other facilities that look like a hotel but has a very warm and caring atmosphere. It was situated in a huge wooded area and my Mom loves outdoors. This is one of the things that we like because it would make her really comfortable.They had actually a couple of units available. We were able to tour those. The units were very nice and clean and it's everything that she would need. The setting was very nice with a window and a view of the courtyard and the flowers and trees. It was very nice. The staff were very nice. We were kinda leaning toward this facility because it fits my Mom's personality better. Also, you get to spend less money but you get more than what you will be paying for. This is the one we are leaning toward by the time my Mom is ready to live in an assisted living facility. "

"Paisley House was a beautiful facility, but it was not as big or extensive as the other community we chose. The staff was very helpful and informative. They have a dog that stays in there, which is nice. Their dining area was not big, but it was warm and inviting. "

"Windsor Estates was a new facility so they had a little bit organizing to do. My sister had a big room and it was big enough to be divided. On one side, it was her bed with desk and night stand. On the other side, I put a love seat, pair of chairs, a big table with the television on it, a big dresser and a reclining chair. She had no kitchenette, and there was a bathroom wih a walk-in shower. Some residents liked the food and others did not. It was a lovely place and I was pleased. The only negative about it was that there were no grounds that you could walk on. It was pretty much a parking lot around it. "
