Hospice Compassus - Albuquerque

They took.a very long time to respond when our love one was in crisis and when the air concentrators broke. Our loved one died a week ago and we had requested support for planning and spiritual support and they still have not returned our calls. This is not the hospice agency you want to use.

Unfortunately there was a "no-stars" rating to choose from. I am appalled at how this company ignored phone calls from my Mother regarding my Dad's condition. The nurse that finally showed up was late with no phone call (this causes elderly people to be anxious) and when my Mother called to let them know that my father's breathing was getting worse - that he no longer could lie down to rest - there was absolutely no response. I've worked in healthcare for 30 years and I have never experienced such appalling responses to a family regarding a family members death and discomfort. Do not chose this company, do your research and do not take the first company recommended. No one should receive this treatment from a Hospice company. Hospice is for the dying and this company could care less about the dying.

I would give no stars if that was an option. The care my mother received from the home health nurse was appalling. When I tried to call to speak to a manager, there was never one available. I was told on multiple occasions that they would take my info down and have a manager call me back....still waiting on that call

Frankly, Riverside Mortuary staff, who picked up my father's body, were more compassionate. In the initial visit, the hospice nurse was argumentative about the care my Dad needed. The only other home visit we got, the nurse gave us a 30 day supply of Morphine tablets (Dad could not swallow) that had someone elses name on it (her child waited in the car during the visit). When we later alerted them to the mistake, they said to go ahead an use it. We did not. When Dad died 4 days later, the on call nurse showed up in a sports jersey and was flipant about the mistake. He joked as my father laid dead. My Mom had to leave the room. We still wonder who got the Morphine with my Dad's name on it. We got no offer of bereavement counseling or even a follow-up call. It was nice to have a hospital bed for the few days, my Dad was more comfortable and he was home in his final days - but this is not the hospice service we had hoped for, for our precious husband and father. We could have done it without the Hospice service.

We had bad luck with Compassus. From the beginning we were waiting 4 hours for a hospital bed-to the nurse visits. Everything seemed to be delayed. The case manager visit was pleasant and they seem to have good services to offer but unfortunately the rest of the time wasn't a good experience.
