I live out of state, and it became necessary to find someone to manage my parents' care, before my dad passed away, and then afterwards, for my mom. I am thankful that my parents had the resources to hire a manager; the cost is pricey, but the service is worth every penny. My mother lives in an assisted living facility, and the care manager is most useful in keeping track of how my mom is being cared for by the staff. Our care manager is knowledgeable and experienced, and has been a useful advocate in various situations. Our manager, or someone at the office, has always been accessible. There was an emergency when our manager stayed with my mom in the hospital until sitters could be arranged. She also spoke to the head nurse, when care was not up to par at the hospital. The company is a helpful resource for issues relating to eldercare. I would recommend them to anyone in my circumstances--or even if family lives in the vicinity of the loved one.
