I chose Compass for Dad because it was local and it was recommended by other family members and friends. The place is very well kept, very clean, and has no odors like you would get in a typical nursing home or any place like it. The staff was very helpful, very pleasant, and very professional. They get good meals. They're the only ones in the area that do what they do, and the closest ones for us make it convenient.

My husband was admitted to Compass for hospice care. The physical facilities were lovely, spotless, and well taken care of, but more importantly, every single person in there was a very, very special person. They were warm, supportive, and caring, not only to my husband but with me as well as the situation progressed. Whenever there was any question as to whether he was in pain, he was immediately taken care of. I met almost all the teams, including the night team, and there wasn't one person that I felt was unprofessional or uncaring. One day when we had 9 inches of snow and I could not go to Centreville, they encouraged me to call multiple times during the day. As busy as they were, they would make time and take the telephone into my husband's room and hold it up for him so he could hear my voice. It's these types of gestures that were so important at a time like that. They were also proactive in keeping me informed about what was going on. The people who worked there were highly trained and I think everyone followed their hearts. The staff was superb and it's an excellent facility. He was there over Christmas and New Year's, and there was gentle music playing throughout the whole time. It was soothing, beautiful, soft Christmas carols. At other times, it was musical. So, they did everything they could to make his journey as gentle and as peaceful as it was.
