Truly Cherished was unbelievably helpful and kind when our family was in a time of need. My grandfather needed 24 hour assistance at home, especially when COVID restrictions would not allow family to visit him. The owner was sure to have someone working, passing off the shift to the next employee. Everyone we met was very sweet and had so many nice things to say about my grandfather. They enjoyed getting to know our family and organization was much easier than with other services we had tried. When something was needed, they recommended options for equipment or services we could buy. When my grandfather passed, they were sure to aid us through the process and provided comfort. Overall extremely pleased with Truly Cherished and I would not hesitate to recommend them to any family requiring home assistance for a loved one.

My Dad has been with Oasis for over 2 years. I tell everyone I know about Oasis. Dad was in a prior facility that did not have the training or the capability to care for those who have mental challenges from dementia. The people at Oasis are wonderful, I visit at all different times and days of the week. There is much interaction with the residents, no staff member walks by without acknowledging their residents. Even if it’s just a quick: Hello, how are you doing? They are not ignored. The food is also very good, nice portions, and variety. Even if someone doesn’t care for something there is always a second option. Or sometimes if all my dad wanted for lunch or dinner was an English muffin, they would get that for him.
Oasis works with a variety of services. Such as PT/OT/Hospice services.
Recently my dad was ill with a UTI that required heavy duty antibiotics. The UTI’s are a common occurrence with him due to his circumstances. We all noticed he hadn’t returned to his prior baseline after this bout. With their help they put me in touch with a hospice service, who came to Oasis to meet with me to review what hospice does and provides, and also meet my dad. It was a huge relief for me on several levels, the biggest is that they come to him, he doesn’t have to leave Oasis. Dad likes it there and is comfortable. As a caregiver there is a lot of guilt for things you know logically that you cannot control. Knowing my dad can stay where his is comfortable and still receive these services helps a great deal.
Both my brother and I are very grateful and happy to have found Oasis for our dad and know that when we cannot be there they are looking out for him.
Thank you Oasis!

Financial Assistance for Home Care in Blackstone, MA
Given the high cost of in-home care, many people use one or more forms of financial assistance to cover the expenses. Below, we explain some of the most common sources of financial help for paying for in-home care. If none of these options are available to you, you can reach out to your Area Agency on Aging or Aging and Disability Resource Center to learn about local resources.
- Long-Term Care Insurance: Long-term care insurance covers expenses related to senior care, including in-home care. Depending on the policy type, beneficiaries may receive a cash payment to use towards long-term care or reimbursement for qualifying long-term care expenses. Note that there are limitations- typically a maximum benefit of $150 per day- and exact coverage terms vary depending on the exact policy, so always check the details.
- Medicare: Medicare does not cover in-home care because it is classified as custodial, or non-medical, care. However, some Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans, which offer expanded benefits, may cover in-home custodial care.
- Medicaid: Medicaid coverage of in-home care varies between different states because it is not a federally mandated benefit. Currently, all states cover some in-home care either through their standard Medicaid or a waiver program. The specific coverage rules are set individually by each state.
- Veterans’ Benefits: The Aid and Attendance benefit is a monthly cash payment that beneficiaries can use to pay for senior care, including in-home care services. To qualify for A&A, Veterans must already receive the VA pension and meet several additional requirements, including needing assistance with the activities of daily living. Contact the Department of Veterans Affairs to learn more.
- Reverse Mortgages: Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECMs) are federally insured loans that are available to homeowners age 62 and over. Reverse mortgages allow you to access a portion of your home’s equity in cash, tax free. Many seniors use reverse mortgages to finance their care expenses, including in-home care. Note that although there are no monthly payments due on reverse mortgage loans, borrowers do have to repay the loan once the last surviving homeowner passes away, moves, or sells the home.
