They evaluated my husband four weeks ago, and they came across as being very concerned and very caring. I've had people in and out. They called to check on us. I'm new to this, and with my husband's feeding tube, there was something that I just didn't understand. I could call them anytime, and they would get back to me immediately. Everything he needed, they've brought. They have CNAs that come and do his bath. They have RNs that come and check on him. Gentiva Hospice has been great so far. I talked to the social worker, and the chaplain has come by.

Our Dad was on Hospice last year with Kindred. He was in anursing facility. Unassigned RNs visiting him never updated family. At times, they wouldn't update of significant findings but relied on nursing facility to inform family.

My mother was with Kindred for 2 years. She was in a nursing facility and we were very active in her life visiting 7 days a week. She passed on Christmas Day as my family was enroute for a visit. I received a call from someone identifying herself as a nurse from Kindred and she asked, Do you know about your mother, do you know what happened? I said yes the facility called and told us she passed. She then said, Oh well are y'all coming up here. I stated well no I don't think we're ready at this time. She replied oh well I need to know where to send the body. I told her which funeral home we had selected and she said, oh ok let me check my paper work and get things started ok bye. That was it, we've received no further communication from Kindred. I think her passing interferred with the nurse's Christmas plans and she didn't want to be bothered. Once again I will state no one has contacted us with condolences, follow up, check up, nothing. But I'm sure they billed all necessary agencies.

I was disappointed with Gentiva. My mother was placed in a nursing facility with a few weeks to live, due to aggressive cancer. We loved our hospice contact that was very in tune with our family. After a couple of weeks she left to get marrried. At that point we had a new contact person. The day my mother was dying, we tried (and the nursing facility tried) for 4 hours to get hospice there to be with us. No one ever showed up. Thank God a wonderful nursing facility nurse came in to stay with us. She held my hand and was so sweet until the end. Hospice kept her pain under control and a young lady bathed her every other day. It was just disappointing that I couldn't get someone there at the end.
