My mother was admitted to the cardiology critical care unit at St. Vincent's Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock in November of 2013. She was in critical condition. The following day, her cardiologist advised that it was time to put her in hospice, so she was transferred to the 7th Floor of the hospital (Arkansas Hospice Inpatient Care). I didn't know what to expect but was amazed by the way my mother and my family were treated by Dr. Smith, the nurses, and the nurses' aides. They were very kind, patient, and compassionate. They made sure that my mother was kept comfortable the entire time she was there. Even though my mother slept most of the time, they always made sure she was clean and presentable for us. They are an amazing group of people. Some people would say, "that is their job", but they went way above and beyond their job. They took the time to find out who my mother was prior to her medication condition. They asked about her background, what she liked to do in her spare time, and where she had worked. Dr. Smith spent at least 30 minutes with us every day answering our questions and letting us know what to expect each day. We were there day and night for eight days and by the time we left, they all felt like family. When my mom took her last breath, all of the nurses came into her room and hugged my sisters and I and told us she was in a better place now. This was of great comfort to us at such a sad time. If you ever find yourself or a family member that needs inpatient hospice, I highly recommend this place.
