Azura Memory Care of Wausau

We toured Azura Memory Care of Wausau. The facility is new, beautiful, and clean. The person that we met with was very friendly. The dining area looked nice. They have field trips and different craft things for activities.

Azura Memory Care of Wausau was very clean and very organized. The staff was quite pleasant and very involved with the residents. They had a room for a twin bed, a dresser, and maybe another chair, but they were just small. There wouldn't have been room for my mother's table, her chairs, and her TV stand. All the residents take turns in taking a shower, and that's just not something that my mother wouldn't go for. She would like her own bathroom with a shower so that when she wants to take a shower and get dressed up in case she's going somewhere, it's available to her. They have somebody that comes in to do the people's hair. The staff does their laundry, help them out, and clean their bedrooms. So, it was a nice place. They were all very welcoming and did a good job of saying what kind of activities they got into. They're close to the dog park, so in the spring or once the weather gets nice, there's a nice sidewalk on their side of the road up to the dog park where they take walks with the residents. They can stand on the sidewalk and see different animals. Farther up from them, there's an elementary school where they can see the kids play, then the seniors watch them do that stuff. So they have plenty of things to keep them involved in the neighborhood.

Azura Memory Care of Wausau was clean. The staff was very friendly and was working with the residents. The residents were out of their rooms, some were in a central gathering room, and some were doing an activity in another room with someone in there. It was a really good place.

Azura Memory Care of Wausau is number one on my list. It was an awesome place and the one that I would be considering. I loved how the facility was set up. They have props set up on the wall that help direct the community seniors. It was fabulous. I happen to arrive close to the luncheon time and even offered me to sit down with everybody. They included me when they didn't even know me. The staff is very nice and excellent. The room sizes were good. The only thing that I had wished would have been a little was I would like to have their outdoor area improved on because it was small. I loved the idea that their housing was in a figure 8 so there are no dead ends. It just continually wraps which is awesome and means a lot for Alzheimer's. They had several different areas which were very nice. I loved it. The director really was amazing and she knows so much about the disease. She had even offered to come to my father's home to introduce herself and help us with the transition into her facility. She interacted with the residents. When I was there, we were interrupted by one of the residents, and she took the time and went ahead and helped the resident. That showed me that she has a high level of love for the residents there. She knew them by name. She was the key to that facility.

I was there visiting my father the other day and he told me about how nice this guy who worked there was. The person was very patient with him even if he was running around doing other things. He didn't have on a name tag, but he was always cleaning. To whoever that person is, thank you so much. This lets us know that our loved ones are in great hands.
