"It was very nice. I would have chosen that one. It had a lot of different sized rooms so that, if I wanted to, I could have gotten a place for my mom and my dad at the same place. They have some good activities. They are in a very nice neighborhood; I like that area. There were a lot of things I liked about them. It was probably one of my second best choices. It was just, with the condition that my father was in, the other place was more suited for him. But it was a very good place, and I liked it. Everyone there was very nice, as well. They had a lot of activities, and they did a lot of outdoor things with the residents there. They'd take them out shopping and to the stores. There are a lot of craft things they could do. There are little garden areas and various things that people get involved with. I liked that they had several dining areas, a small cafe-like setup, which was really nice, where if you lived on a certain hall you had a choice of different places you could go to have a meal, so it was very nice. I liked that. It was actually a nice concept. "

Grandma is very picky, but she loves the food there, so I think that is very good. They have a very good kitchen and dining staff. They do activities, and she enjoys them."

"My friend likes Harbison Shores. She is leaning towards this place. I like that the staff were very friendly. I was really impressed with the size of the rooms and the friendliness of the people. It was just a really good fit for my friend. They supply appliances in the apartments. It's like a mini kitchen. They have a regular-sized refrigerator, but you supply your own microwave. They supply all three meals, which is a plus. Plus, cable and internet are provided with the amount that you pay. Another plus is the little security pendant in case you fall which also is included. The person who took me around was Amy, and she was wonderful. She was very sweet and took her time. We knew she had another appointment very shortly after us and there were people moving in, but she still took her time with us. She was very good at answering any questions, and she didn't rush us or make us feel like she had another appointment coming up. I appreciated that, too. We got to see the food and it looked good."

"Colonial Gardens was quiet. It seemed clean and very nicely decorated. It seemed to have adequate staff. They named a lot of different activities that they had for the people, but I really didn't see much of anything going on. So I would have to go back another time and ask them about why when I came to look at the place, nothing was going on when they said all kinds of stuff was scheduled. That's the only thing I have a little bit of concern about. They had activity rooms, but I didn't see anybody doing anything except laying around sleeping. The rooms seemed to be very nicely arranged. They had bathing facilities that were very well set up to properly care for people who needed help. They had different areas where people could sit to enjoy either TV or to do some sort of craft project. They also had an outdoor area where people could go if they so desired. It wasn't very shady, but there was an outdoor area where they could just get out and enjoy the outdoors. Everybody was very polite, pleasant, and professional."

"Each one of staff members was very friendly and helpful to me when I entered the home. I was able to find everyone of my friends because anyone I asked knew all about the locations of each of the residents. Even the one who was on the housekeeping staff seemed to care about each resident and I saw several of the employees seeking out help for patients who had their room lights on while I was going from each my friends rooms. The facility itself is very clean and nicely furnished. I saw many smiles on the faces of both the nurses and the residents. Not long after I had visited one of my friends that had attended a previous church with me, he unfortuneately passed away. There were several people from the home attending his service, both management and nurses. I would recommend Springdale Nursing Home to any of my family because I have observed the kind, gentle and caring attitude of everyone that I have met at this facility, and the buildings are well kept. "

"This community was wonderful. The staff greeted us right away and we were able to get a tour immediately. The first thing I noticed was the plesant smell and the activities going on. The residents were listening to a music performance. We arent ready just yet, but this made our short list. "

"Wildewood Downs is a fairly small place, so my mother gets the attention she needs, and it's got a really good staff. They are friendly and skilled. Her needs are being met in a timely manner. I think the whole place is a five-star community. It's very nice and I was lucky to be able to get her there. She also enjoys the food. She still does some rehab, then they have crafts, and she is able to join them if she wants."

"We visited my dad when he was in PruittHealth in Blythewood. It was pretty much horrible. They kept him in bed the whole time. He never had any kind of exercise. He had a feeding tube placed in. When he got home, he was severely malnourished. We had to spend the first month that he was out of rehab trying to get home rehab because they didn't do rehab when he was there. They weren't accepting visitors. The only time we got to go in was a couple of days before he got released. We went and see him through the window. The staff was nice enough, but anybody can be nice. They didn't feed him. They gave him pureed food. I don't know if the food just didn't have enough nutrients or if they weren't just feeding him enough because when he got home, he was like 98 pounds. In our opinion, they did not do what they were supposed to do. The only time they got him out of the bed was to pick him up and sit him in the chair. He never tried to walk and now we're having to face that because now his muscles are so weak that he can't walk. The people that we spoke with were good. Our caseworker was good. She pretty much answered all the questions we had. It was just the level of care that we weren't too happy with. The outside of the building was nice, but we had only seen the inside once. It was clean."

The assistant director was the one that sat down with us, and she was able to answer our questions and provide us with all the information we needed. She was very helpful. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the place. The location was a nice secluded area. I was particularly very impressed at the fact that it was fenced off to prevent people from wandering. They also had secured exits inside the facility that prevented people from leaving unnoticed."

"I would think anyone being put in the position where they have to put a loved one in a care facility would want a clean, hospitable place to start with. after having my mother here for 9 months i found the conditions unacceptable. The bldg smells of urine from the time you enter, residents are sitting in their own waste too long and infections seem to run higher here then in others I have looked at. I seem to be looking harder at a new place and a healthier environment for my mother to live the remaining of her life. I am saddened to see such poor conditions in a facility that is geared towards quality of life for our elderly when they have supported us for so long. "
