Bill wanted his parents to feel they were living in their own home while they received the care they needed to be assisted with the tasks of daily living. Instead of a large campus with sprawling hallways and a hotel like an environment that he found at most retirement communities; Brereton Manor has a quiet living room, a comfortable TV room, a community dining room and a kitchen that looks similar to his parent’s kitchen. In other words, Brereton Manor feels like home. There are 25 bedrooms scattered throughout so that no resident of Brereton is far from any common area.

The quality of care is just as unique as the Brereton’s floor plan. Bill wants care that any member of his family deserves especially since he bought Brereton to take care of his parents. Generally, there are 25 residents and there is 25 well-trained staff to care for the residents. Every effort is made to bring the necessary care and treatment to each resident instead of sending a resident to another facility should their health decline.

Family owned and operated for nearly 50 years, Brereton Manor is a small personal care facility committed to providing quality, loving care for seniors. We are located in Washington Boro, near Lancaster, PA and right in the middle of Pennsylvania’s magnificent farming country. Our intimate facility is located on six beautiful country acres and is surrounded by corn fields and pastures that are home to the horses and ponies that live on the Brereton Manor site. There are walking paths and plenty of outdoor rest areas that offer views of our property and the surrounding countryside while providing the opportunity for vital outdoor exercise to our residents. The Brereton garden supplies us with wonderful fresh vegetables throughout the growing season and the horses that are stabled here are available to the children and grandchildren of our residents with appropriate notice.

We are proud to be a premier elder care facility and to guarantee the very best personal and medical attention for your loved ones. We are fully staffed with licensed practical nurses as well as professionally trained caregivers. A staff physician and registered nurse are always on call and we work with contracted agencies to bring the very best medical care – occupational and physical therapy, dermatology, podiatry and, when needed, hospice – to our residents here at their home. We encourage those who live with us to maintain their independence through a variety of social activities and interactions with other residents.
