I toured Holiday Rogue Valley. The community was active. Some things were going on when we got there. There were no odors at all. Some of the residents even stopped and told me how great the food was on their own. They said it was great. Residents looked clean and well cared for. It's not a fit for the needs that my husband and I are looking at right now.

I lived in Holiday Rogue Valley. I was quite happy there. It was a fun, nice place, clean, and everything that I was looking for. The food was good. The maintenance was good. We had no problems with the staff. They have all the facilities that they advertise and we were happy there. For the first few months we were there the food was outstanding, but it went downhill a little bit before we left. They served three meals a day. Maintenance and cleanliness were very good. They had a bus, so they had transportation. They had games, cards, bingo, poker, and lots of different things. They did some physical activities. We didn't participate in a lot of that because we weren't interested at the time. They were in transition at the time we left and that was a confusing mess.

Holiday Rogue Valley was lovely. The food and everything are included while the apartments had a kitchenette. The lady that gave the tour was very nice, very, very congenial, and knew lots of information. The facility was also very clean. They had two patios, parking for people who still drive, and some nice little lawn areas outside.

I visited Holiday Rogue Valley. Our overall experience was very good. We enjoyed meeting the people there. They were very friendly and knowledgeable about their facility. Everybody who saw us walking down the hallways were very friendly, spoke to us, and said, "Hello and how are you doing today?" and stuff like that. The apartments are very clean and spacious. They were very nice. We felt very comfortable putting my sister in there, and it would feel very comfortable living there. They have a library, and a cafeteria where you can go eat all your meals. They have refrigerators and microwaves in all the rooms. You're allowed to bring in a convection oven or a hot plate if you want. It's all monitored very closely. They have laundry facilities for the people who live there. They do your sheets and towels, but all of your personal clothing you do yourself, and they have the facilities for you to use. Their dining area was very nice. We didn't get a chance to eat their food, but they were eating lunch when we went through there, and the food smelled delicious. They have a menu that they put out weekly for the people who live there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you want to have your food brought to your room for you, they will do it at this place. They are wheelchair accessible, and my sister has a little scooter that she rides around. She's able to have elevators; she can ride that up to whatever floor she's on. It's a three-story building. I think that the unit that we're looking at is on the second floor, and the library is right out her door and she loves to read. They have all other activities. There's a pool table and a place where they do puzzles once a week. They have an activity for people to come in and do puzzles, or just sit and talk to each other or whatever. The facility was clean, organized, and very well maintained.

We toured Holiday Rogue Valley. It is not as well maintained and not as clean. The hallways in the residents' area, the one we went down, really smelled like yeast and urine. It has suffered some decline in the seven years. The apartments were of reasonable size, but the maintenance of the cabinetry for the kitchenettes and kitchens was not well done. I felt like someone needed to be called in and repair or replace them. I did not see any of the activities areas. They were kind of running it like an apartment complex for older individuals. The carpeting had been removed from 2015 and had gone to some type of vinyl planking, which was fine because I know it was easier to clean, and it looked tidy. But if there were activities, I was not made aware of. It needs a lot of maintenance.

Provider Response

Lisa, thank you for considering our community for your new home and we appreciate your feedback. We enjoyed meeting you and wish you the best in finding your new home.

We were able to tour Holiday Rogue Valley for my mom-in-law. We were impressed with the amenities and the common areas. All the residents we talked to said that they loved living there. The staff member who gave us the tour was very pleasant. The general manager who was supposed to give the tour didn't show up, so another staff member gave us the tour. They have a dining room (which is a restaurant-style dining room), they have outings, there's transportation that is available three times a week, the cable is included in the rooms, and they have a lot of common areas where residents could gather and socialize. The apartments were very clean and adequate size-wise. There were a couple of odd angles in each room, but I believe that was to accommodate the balconies, and so it was fine. Upkeep and maintenance were very good.

The staff at Rogue Valley was very cooperative and very nice. They showed me the room that was being renovated when we were there. So it was it wasn't finished, but they don't furnish them anyway so it's ok. It was being painted, but it didn't take away from the fact that the room was nice. It was on the bottom floor and it had like a little second guarded front room. It looked immaculate. The staff mentioned that the current resident of the room they showed me, sits out there on the grass patio and welcomes everybody coming into the place. There will be room for improvement. I was scheduled to be there for lunch then, but I was there early, so I just took off. I talked to a lady who just came out of the lunch area, who said they have 3 meals a day and that it's always good. I saw two different areas, the big expansive one is very comfortable-looking with sofas and chairs.

My wife and I moved into Rogue Valley. The grounds look very nice, and the apartment looks brand new. The staff are excellent as far as I can see, so far. They have all kinds of stuff, and every day they have something. I don't do any of it, but they have bingo, bowling-type games, and puzzles -- you name it. They have a pool table, a library, and movies -- all kinds of good stuff. The dining room is very homey. They have a good staff of people working there. The people are very nice, and everybody seems to be excellent. I mean, you ask them about something and they get it done.

I'm planning to move to Rogue Valley in Grants Pass after July. It was the place that I could afford. It also has a deck and I wanted a deck. They're redoing my future apartment right now and re-carpeting the place. I get to bring my refrigerator and they're also redoing the bathroom. They've just been very helpful to me and I'm amazed. It's the first independent living place I looked at that I felt like, "Yeah, I could live here". There's something about the place that makes me feel like I'll be home. They have a lot of activities going on. The staff was very helpful to me during my tour and the facility was very neat and clean.

Provider Response

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My brother has moved into Rogue Valley, and we love it there. It's a beautiful place, and it is surrounded by nature. All around it are beautiful trees, shrubs, and flowers. There's a little place in the back behind where he lives, and he can go out the back door. There are two raised garden beds, and he can put potted plants out there and take care of it right there. He loves to garden, so that's a perfect thing for him. They also have all kinds of different things that he can do there. He can play games with different people, and they have places where he can exercise. Even though he's ninety-one years old, he likes to be active. The food there is wonderful. He's a vegetarian, and they fixed him vegetarian food; that is just wonderful. The chef there is top notch. The people we worked with were just so sweet, and you can tell they love elderly people. They love the old folks, and they really want to take good care of them. The price is high, but if you have savings and if you have some way to get the money, it's well worth what you pay. The VA will help those who are veterans. We've just been really happy about everything they've done so far. We love our brother. He came from a family of thirteen kids, so we take good care of each other. It is such a nice place that we are thinking about going there too -- and our kids are thinking about it along with us. It's a nice place to be. The staff is a "ten." They're all just wonderful. They have a lot of activities. They have an exercise class. Every evening they have some kind of activity. Last night, for instance, they took them to a restaurant and they could order whatever kind of drink they wanted, and then they took them back home. My brother, of course, would have juice because he never drinks any kind of wine or anything like that, and it's great. Sometimes they take them to the coast, and sometimes they take to see different parts of the country, so there are lots of activities. It is way too much money for us, but the VA is going to help him, so it is OK and everything is paid for.

My father-in-law is moving into Rogue Valley. It seemed really nice, and they were very polite. They help you with the check-in process. What I liked most about it, was it was very clean and didn't smell. I only interacted with the lady who showed us the apartment. She was very nice and very helpful. The layout of the room was good. There was plenty of room for a wheelchair and a walker going in and out of the kitchen and bathroom. The shower is accessible; it's a walk in, which is very nice. It was very spacious even for being a studio. They showed us the dining room, which is really nice. That is about as far as we got. We saw the front entrance. They didn't show us the courtyard. I don't know if they're open right now because of Covid or if things are kind of limited. I didn't see an outside courtyard or anything like that. She expressed that they had things, but I was on my lunch break so I was kind of in a hurry. I liked what I saw.

My mom still lives at Rogue Valley, and she likes it there. It's been a little hard with the COVID, but I think it's the same for every place. They have apartments; it's not assisted living at all. They play games. They're not able to do it as much as they did, and it's more limited, but because it is your own apartment, and as long as you're able to be in an apartment, it's pretty nice.

Rogue Valley looked wonderful. In fact, me and my husband said, we wanna go there. They have independent apartments, studios, 1-bedrooms, and 2-bedrooms. And you could actually have a spouse or a partner live with you for a minimal additional cost, so that was nice. In fact, you could have pets and they provide transportation to shopping and things like that. With regard to the COVID precautions they had, they would serve the meals to the rooms rather than the dining hall, or arrange it to the dining hall area if you needed to. We liked it.

Rouge Valley was pleasant and nice, but it was a lot older. The rooms were smaller, and I felt closed in, but the staff was wonderful, and very nice. I enjoyed talking to them. I thought the overall facility needed more attention to carpeting and cleanliness. We had difficulty locating the place. The dining area was very nice, and the food was excellent.

Provider Response

Rogue Valley is good and when we went into the place, my mom said "That's it, this is where I want to be," so that was the end of the search. It was pleasing and homey, and my mom felt comfortable there. The staff was very friendly and the residents seemed to be outgoing. The food and service were good. The one-bedroom apartment my mom got was almost 700 square feet so it was a really nice one with a lot of windows and natural light. It was clean and well-done, and my mom liked it. They have a whole calendar of activities and every day it changes. You get what you pay for.

Rogue Valley is very old. They need to upgrade their facility. They need to hire maybe more people to maintain the grounds. Rogue Valley is also very expensive. The staff is very friendly; however, they're too friendly, because they don't work, they just stand around and talk with each other. I also didn't see any activities. They provide three meals a day. They also have snacks and beverages. I had lunch there a couple of times; the food was only adequate.

My father liked Rogue Valley the best because of the location. It had buses that would take the residents to the doctors' appointments. Meals were provided, and they had bus trips, too. The rooms were clean, had good windows for a lot of light, and it was like a small apartment. There was a walk-in shower instead of a tub.

Rogue Valley is a very nice community, and the people are very friendly and professional. It provides GPS for all residents, so if they have emergent or even non-emergent needs, they just have to press a button. We're very happy with it. The food was healthy and delicious, but I have heard complaints in the last couple of weeks. There must have been a change in the kitchen because the residents aren't happy with the food right now, but it has been reported to management, and they're working on it. They have a lot of activities like Bingo, music, puzzles, exercise classes, but my mom doesn't interact that much.

My mom is ver happy living in Rogue Valley. It is a very social community. I expect the rent to go up, but they want to increase the rent like 6% which I thought was ridiculous. My brother and I went down there and negotiated with the assistant manager, so we were able to bring the rent increase into a more acceptable level because Mom really wants to stay there. The staff is quite nice and accommodating. They are cutting costs, so the quality of the meals isn't what it used to be. It is still quite OK, but not as fine as before. Other than that, I am happy with it if Mom is happy with it.

Rogue Valley was very clean, and everybody was very friendly; the residents as well as the employees. They had a library, a TV room, and socials. You can join in on card games or whatever was going on, and they had jigsaw puzzles out all the time. It was very clean, the rooms were very nice, the apartments were very nice, very clean, and up to date, and they didn’t look like they’ve been worn out. I’ll move there tomorrow if I can afford it.

Rogue Valley was very good. They've got a nice variety of rooms and a list of activities going on all the time. The special perk with them is if you are staying at their retirement inn, they have all over the country where you can stay for up to seven days for free. As a golfer, I'm tempted on that one, because I can go stay for free and golf in various courses, especially around Washington. They have three or four different styles of apartment. I like the way you could set them up with your furniture. They were not posh but adequate. They had bingo and cards and a schedule of activities that they set up every single day. They have available staff and two couples that live in there, which was a nice feature.

We have settled on Rogue Valley, and my mom is now living there. It is affordable and well run, it has good social structure, and the food is excellent. My mother is happy. She has been there for two and a half weeks now. Our experience has been largely positive. She is enjoying it, and she is learning the system. It has many things that she wants and uses, i.e., transportation to local shops and appointments. The biggest factor for her is that the residents are regular folks and are not too handicapped, so she can find social contacts there. It is more like an apartment building.

Rogue Valley did not have nursing care, but they have housekeeping assistance and that kind of thing. This one is in the downtown area close to shopping, and it is strictly rental basis. They do have some amenities like the ice-cream parlor and TV and that kind of thing. They have a beauty shop and some of those kinds of things available. They have the pay style meals, and they provide three a day. It was a beautiful location; it was nice and open, and there were lots of windows in their dining room. They did not have a fenced area where the dogs can run, but they had a nice walkway around. They have a regular activities director, and she has something going on for the residents every day. It was a lovely place, and I am sure that I'd be very comfortable there. They didn't have any in-house nursing facility; I think there was a nurse on the premises for an emergency, but there was no care beyond that. If you can't live on your own, then this would not be the place for you.

My unit at Rogue Valley is very modern. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have dining halls. It’s a 3-story complex, and in the center of that point is the dining hall. It has a beautiful view out the windows, so it has pleasant dining. They have light housekeeping, and they pay for the cable TV, which is quite nice. They have everything except for medical. They provide entertainment and all kinds of games throughout the month. They schedule that for the whole month, and it’s all up on boards throughout the building to let you know of what’s coming up, and then you do whatever you like. They have a 1-bedroom and a studio, and they have different sizes. It would be nice if they could offer Oriental food. Once in a while, have grilled cheeseburgers or hamburgers, and also Mexican food would be appreciated, not too spicy, but that would be nice to add to the American cuisine.

Rogue Valley was abslutely wonderful. The staff were fantastic and they took good care of my mother for five months. They had a lot of activities although she was not able to participate in all of them. She had a large room with a bedroom and private bathroom. My mom was really pleased with everything before she passed away. I would absolutely recommend this place to other people.

Rogue Valley is a very nice facility; however, it isn’t one that I would want to live at for a couple of reasons. They just don’t have medical assistance there. I also knew about this facility because my parents were there, so I went back and see if it was still was good as it was when they were there. They were able to really enjoy the facility. The dining looked very nice. I would just have to say that it’s a nice facility as long as you do not need to have any medical care.

Rogue Valley was one of the senior facilities in our area. It was very clean and spacious. We had dinner there and it was very good. We saw several rooms. There was a one-bedroom unit that had a linoleum kitchen area and a carpeted living area with a bedroom. All of their facilities were clean and meant for the activities that they had there. They had lots of activities. The staff was warm and caring. They were fantastic. As a matter of fact, all of the residents knew the young man who showed us around. They hugged him as we were going down the hall. He even brought us dinner here at home and had kept in touch with us to know how we were doing.

I chose Rogue Valley because I could have my dog here and that I can do my own medicines and can be fairly independent. Plus, it is really a nice place. It is conveniently located wherein it is about two blocks away to the Albertson's Plaza that has quite a few things. The management is also extremely nice. They have quite a few activities but I'm not a joiner. They have activities for people who are not able to do much and also for people who are able to do more. Food here is quite good. They spice it up and make nice desserts. On the other hand, I'm just a person who was raised on very plain food. Besides, I'm allowed to cook on my own. The best thing about staying here is having my dog with me and enjoy being independent. They have also lived up to what they're supposed to do. I would recommend this place.
