Cambridge Place

I was a resident at Cambridge Place's assisted living facility. It was okay, but it was very poorly managed. The help was like a revolving door; you didn't know who you'd have. It was rare to have anybody who had been there more than a year. Most of them were there for a month or two, and then they were out. They had a lot of trouble keeping help, and the management was terrible. They didn't treat the employees well. Any time something went wrong, they threatened them with firing. It's very poorly run. The carpet in my apartment was 50 years old, and it was terrible. It was dirty and never cleaned properly. They clean once a week, if you are lucky. The food was boring and repetitive. They also dropped me a couple of times over there. For activities, they had things that were pretty repetitive, and it was all kindergarten stuff. They had a courtyard and a library, which was just a shelf in the hallway with books in it. They didn't have a separate room for it. They had a dining room and a living room, and those were the only separate rooms in there. It wasn't a big facility. They had 24 beds in assisted living, and I think 26 beds in memory care. I was self-paying there until I ran out of money, and then I was on Medicaid. Compared to everything else in town, they were probably on a par with everybody else, money-wise.

Cambridge Place seems welcoming and homey. I didn't get to see much of it but considering what we have to offer in this area, I would say it would be a good place to go. The staff was very informative. The person I was to see and had an appointment with wasn't there, so someone else took me around. She did a fine job, though.
