"The move from home to assisted living was not an easy move for Dad. He had reached the point where living alone wasn’t in his best interest. The staff at Elderwood made the transition so much easier for all of us. It was such a relief to know that he can still maintain his independence and get the care he needs. The staff is caring and attentive and always treat him with respect. If we ever have questions or concerns they are available and great to work with. The special events they put on for residents and their families are always a great time. As cliche’ as it sounds they have truly become family."

"Appleridge Senior Living was lovely. There were a lot of amenities that would service my personality. They had excellent services and dining. They were open to activities, they had an arts and crafts room, and a fitness group that got together to do low-impact stretching. The apartments were lovely and spacious. There are a lot of windows. They were very helpful, charming, polite, and willing to help. The meal plan seemed to be very generous. The price per day and the meal plan was a monthly fee and you get lunch and dinner. Then the breakfast came out of the buffet or you could go to the dining room and order breakfast for an extra charge of $10. The facility was fairly new. It was very clean. I went to three sections of the building, which included the recreation areas as well as the dining and lobbies. I went to three different styles of suites that you could rent. I looked at a one-bedroom, a one-bedroom with a den, and a two-bedroom. I met one of the residents and had a nice conversation with her in the hall. They had very comfortable, overstuffed chairs and seating groups in the hallway areas so you didn't have to entertain in your rooms. You could meet people out in the hall or sit down and play some games together."

"My mom was at the Elderwood at Waverly and we had a fair experience with them. The communication with the staff was really, really good, but the thing that complicates everything is the virus. In a rehab facility you should be able to go out, use equipment, and things like that, but it was a little bit more limited because things weren't available for the people. They didn't have any activates because of the virus and they couldn't bring them out of their rooms or anything like that. The food was fair and the facility was a little dated; it could use some work. Safety wise they were very safe, they didn't even let me into the building. I understand that, I do appreciate it too, because she wasn't infected."

"the best care I have ever seen in a memory unit. The staff and cna's are top knotch and very caring and compassionate. The activities staff keep the residents engaged and provide and all round family atmosphere. I cannot say enough good about this facility. My mother was there over a year and I also was very present on a daily basis and saw much. "

"Sayre Health Center provides total care. Mother is in a private room and it's beautiful. It isn't just a nursing home, it's for rehabilitation and all sorts of things they have people in for. The Alzheimer's and dementia patients are right in with the regular population which is what I like because that keeps her more active and she will cope to these normal people as well. The food is pretty good. I've had the food myself. The staff is very good and very helpful as far as I can see. If anything happens, they always notify me immediately and if they can't get me they call one of my other brothers or my sister. They're very quick to respond. If I have a question, they call me back right away. They have cookies and coffee during the day. They also have a snack cart that comes around in the afternoon. They quite often have popcorn night or movie night with popcorn. They really do a nice job, I think, much better than the other place that we were in but with a different setup. They have lots of groups that come in for singing, band concerts, choral concerts and country western bands. They have trips to the casino, trips to the mall and trips to see the Christmas lights. They have bingo and book club. I like the place. My whole family is quite happy with it. "

"This facility is very poor. The majority of time, the nurses do not do anything but distribute meds. They utterly refuse to answer call buttons. They employ CNA's, but the ratio of patients to one CNA is 18 patients. Ashton has a repeatedly not paid their cable bill, which means the residents do not get to watch TV. CNA's are told to lie to the patients and tell them the cable is out. The dinner time has been changed to a later time for the convenience of the staff, not the patients. Some patients are forced to go to the dining room to eat instead of being able to chose if they would like to stay in their room and watch a TV program. CNA's are harassed and ad are not supported by the nursing staff. This facility needs to be audited and investigated. "

"Ideal was very nice and everything, but they never got back to us. We put an application, and if they didn't want my mother-in-law, they never told us either way. We didn't think that it was very professional. We only toured it on that one day, and they seemed nice, but I can't say a lot because we really don't know much about them. My husband and I thought it was rude that they didn't return the phone call to us after we filled out the application. They should have let us know one way or the other. They were very friendly. "

"We went to Skye View Heights They had cottages that were two-bedroom, two-bath, and very well done. But they did not have indoor parking. They had outdoor. It's a regular parking lot. And around here with the snow that's not something we were looking for. The girl was very knowledgeable and very courteous. She was very good to us. From what we saw, the facility was good. They have a bus service that goes into the Binghamton area, grocery shopping, and things like that, which is very good. I don't drive, so if something happened to my husband, I would take advantage of that. So, that was a plus."

"Vestal Rehabilitation and Nursing Center was terrible. They called me every other day and told me I had to move my mom. They pressured me and that was uncomfortable. The social worker was horrible, she told me I had to stay with my mother everyday if I could not transfer her. They really put me through a traumatizing period of time. I also thought they were short-staffed and they did not handled things very well. I was so angry that they mistreated my mom. "

"The atmosphere is friendly and inviting. Everyone is always helpful. They keep the building in good condition and clean. You expect to smell something terrible when you think of a nursing facility, but when you walk in you don't get that. They offer a lot of activities for the residents and that keeps them also happy and makes it easier to visit when they have something new to tell about what they have been up to. The cafeteria is a great place to visit, they have lots of choices and good food as well. There is a lot of different places to take the residents when you are there to visit. There is a dining room, a day room and a elevator sitting area on every unit, as well as a downstairs lobby, activity room, and 2 different outdoor locations to sit, relax, and enjoy talking to everyone. The building is accessible and very easy to find. The only complaint would be the parking lot is kind of small and there is a bit of a walk to get to the main entrance door. In all I believe most everyone is happy to work there and they show it. It makes it easier to want to go back each time and know you will always feel welcome and be comfortable. "

"My aunt was put here after her stroke. When I went to visit her she was slumped over in a wheelchair with no help in sight. She also had several articles of clothes stolen. Needless to say she was put in another facility. The head of the department never returned any of the phone calls our family made. We also called and tried to talk to the head nun at the time but again, no returned calls."

"Good Shepherd Village was a good fit for me and my husband. The staff was very pleasant and just was a good fit for us. The room was very pleasant. Stores are close by, and they take you to the doctors. They do the basics, usually what other places do. It's more out of the city. It's out in the country, but it's close to Wegmans grocery store, which they take you to, but you make an appointment. I saw all three levels. There's a nursing home. First, we're going into independent, and then if we need other levels, we can go forward. The facade of the facility was very good, and it was clean."

"We’ve been to Bradford County Manor several times because that’s where my uncle stayed. It’s a 30-minute drive from Waverly. Everything was right on par. It was brightly lit, furnished, and up to date. The staff was courteous and kind. The rooms were very nice. Somebody goes in twice a day to pick up, and look around, not leaving anything on the floor where they could trip. It seemed very well maintained. "
