I visited this facility

We visited here. My husband still needs some skilled nursing care. They said they could provide it because he is getting better every day. It's beautiful. Everything is brand new. It's only been open for a year. Everything is so beautiful and clean, new, and modern. It's very nice. The staff was very nice, very polite, showed me everything, and answered all my questions. They had an exercise class going on at that time. The rooms were nice sized and big enough to bring your own furniture.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents moved here. My dad is in assisted living, my mom is in memory care, and they offered that in one building. I like the one-to-one care. They took my parents and within a day, they knew about my parents, and they were very personable and very caring. We feel completely confident in the care that they're giving both of them. Their communication is excellent. We're in touch with the woman who runs the memory care unit daily, she gives us updates on mom, not so much dad in assisted living, but we don't need updates on dad so much. He's doing fine. It's mom we're concerned about. It's a new facility. It was built last summer, so everything is brand new, and it's beautiful. It's clean. It feels like you're in a hotel and they have housekeeping and laundry. My mom's living area in memory care is just so clean, and my dad too. He's in a different dining room. He says the food is great, it's more of like a restaurant, you get to choose, you get waited on each time you go in. They have beautiful grounds and they have a van that would take my dad out for some shopping and things like that, although he doesn't have his car, they do let assisted living residents have a car. They have taken my mom to the doctors. She needed to go to the dentist. She needed to go to her doctor and they drove her there. We feel comfortable with them there, and we made a great decision having them there. They do have a gym and they have a theater. They have a common area, a bar, big TVs everywhere and a library. They have cozy little living room areas, so you kind of feel like you're home in a living room and fireplaces and things like that. They're starting to bring back singers and they have a rabbi that comes on Friday night for the Jewish residents, for services. They're bringing in speakers. So I think they keep them busy. There's always a matinee that they've got playing. There are exercise groups. There are special things for memory care, games that they play, and music appreciation. They have rolling activities for a day, they've got something that the residents can go to. My dad is very happy, and he was an active guy. The location is near parks so he can walk if he wants, he can walk into town, it's walking distance to the stores, his bank, and his drugstore. So he seems to be comfortable there, we're really going on his event schedule. We know he goes and participates. When we went on our first visit, we ate there, and it was lovely. And my father says, the food's delicious. My mom is a good eater too, and she likes it. They have a nice variety. They give them a menu for each meal and they can select what they want, and then if something isn't on the menu, my dad says they'll always make him a sandwich, or something. If you don't feel like coming down to the dining room, you can call down to the front desk and they'll have something from the dining room set up. There was a time that my dad had not eaten lunch for whatever reason, he'd been visiting with me and my mom. They realized that he hadn't had lunch because they didn't see him in the dining room, and they brought in a sandwich and a cup of coffee for him to my mom's dining room. They eat separately in memory care.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

If I could put 6 stars I would. The staff at Atria New City is absolutely top notch. Starting with the sales guys who treated my mother with such patience and kindness. My mother switched her apartment three times before settling on the one that she liked the best. The guys took their time showing her the apartments and took measurements with us to help see which furniture would fit. Getting the medical paperwork completed for move in was a giant pain. The social worker at Atria was on top of it and saved me a lot of running around. On move in day, they had a red carpet rolled out for my mother and the staff all applauded as she walked in. Chef had prepared a cheese board and placed it in my mother's apartment. That was a nice surprise to find. The apartment we picked for mom has a nice view of the meadow. The windows are large and ceilings are tall. My mom has a made lots of friends. When I call her she is always busy. My mom went from being in her home alone to having a group of ladies she sits at her meals with. She seems much happier. I was a little nervous at first but everything has worked out wonderfully. Thank you again to Atria's staff. You have made my life easier.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I reserved a studio apartment for my father in the assisted living. We picked an apartment closer to the fitness center because my father will receive physical therapy on a somewhat regular basis. The studio was larger than others we had seen elsewhere. The ceilings are tall, and has very large windows. The hallways and common areas are brightly lit, giving it a bright and cheery feel. They have sports lounge, activity area, movie theater, cafe and lots of living rooms. Everyone we met was very friendly including the receptionist who took our temperature and brought us coffee. The sales person we met used to be a history teacher, so he and my father had a lot to talk about. There are no residents living at the building. Seemed like they were expecting to receive their license at the end of May. So we cannot rate the food or activities yet. From the discussion we had, it looks like my father will have plenty to do. My dad isn't overly social; but when he and the sales guy Matthew got talking about the Korean war, my father lit up. On the activities calendar, we saw lots of discussions groups, books clubs and an exercise class every morning. Listed was a monthly men's club and history lecture. My father was initially against the idea of moving into a senior living building. He has lived with my husband and me for the past two years. COVID was a real struggle for us all, but especially for my father who lost friends and was more or less trapped inside my house. We are all looking forward to him moving into Atria.
