I toured Fox Hills at Rockaway. I drove around the community and it was very nice. They had a clubhouse, which was where you join the book club or whatever. They had 2 huge pools and a workout room. I looked at the 1-bedroom apartment, and it was very nice but very dated.

Fox Hills is a conveniently located retirement community. It is right off of Rt. 80 in Rockaway, and is very close to the mall there. The property is well-maintained, and secure. There is a manned gate at the front of the property, and all buildings, including garages, require an electronic key for entrance. There is a club house building with a gym, as well as a pool. There are classes and activities in club house at various times. In addition, there is a Jitney that will take residents to various places around town. Each building has it's own lobby, indoor mailboxes, elevators and a garage. The garage has a parking spot for each resident and room for each resident to store items, and is kept at a constant temperature. The staff is inattentive to the residents. There have been problems for months with the outsides of the buildings falling apart, and the people the staff hired to fix the problems have taken over a year to fix the building, and are still not finished. The help desk is manned by a rude woman, who is the least helpful person I encountered there.
