My mother was in West Vue nursing home for a little while, and that's when COVID struck -- until I just brought her home. It was not good. I thought it was the nicest facility, but the care wasn't. She wasn't there two weeks, and she was black and blue all down one side. She would tell me that they'd help her go to the bathroom, and then they'd leave her in there for an hour until her leg would fall asleep. She just was not happy. She was in the rehabilitation part, and we had to visit through the window. She just had two strokes, so she was really confused and lost, and it was heartbreaking; I couldn't take it. I really didn't know anything about the staff because I couldn't go in. When I would go visit through the window, she would bring her phone, and then we would call and we'd talk on the phone. It wasn't her window; they had to get a wheelchair to bring her to the other end of the building so I could see her. I never got to go in. She had to pay a co-pay every day. She has Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield Advantage and it still wound up costing her $4000, and I don't think she was in there for even a month.
