We chose Monticello House because of personal recommendations and it was closer to my house. The food was very good. We had lunch there many times and the price was reasonable too. My mother enjoyed the food and they had good meal plans. There were snacks available all the time. The staff were amazing and were interactive even with the family members. Even pets were allowed inside.

My mother-in-law was in the Monticello House for a few days following a hospital stay. She was there for rehab after having problems with her diabetes. It's a nice facility, easy to get to and within short distances to restaurants and stores. The facility itself is well maintained, clean and well kept. The employees were nice and pleasant. After my mother-in-law had been there for a few days, we went to visit her. She did not look well, she was very bloated and incoherent. She smelled like she hadn't had a bath. She was in and out of conscientiousness. After talking to the nurses, we had learned she was being difficult, mean and yelling at them, they were pretty much keeping her sedated. This was not helping her condition as she was getting bloated from her diabetes problems. We asked if they had called the doctor and they said no, they didn't seem to see any problem. The doctor was called later that afternoon and she was taken back to the hospital to once again try and get her diabetes under control. They said if she hadn't come back, she probably would have died. We don't know if that was a regular occurrence there or if she was treated that way because she is on Medicaid.
