Memory Care Communities in Basking Ridge, NJ

"My mother is at Memory Care Living. She has been there for two months now. It is a private home with 15 bedrooms, and each resident gets their own bedroom. The house was completely renovated last fall. It is very clean. The facility is very nice. I give very high marks to the staff that works there. They are very caring and very engaged with the residents. The open floor plan in the family room, and the kitchen is a nice feature because it gives it a very homey feel. Whenever they're preparing food, it is right out in the open. The kitchen is separate, but there are no walls between the kitchen and the main gathering area. I think that's a nice plus. Even though it is a private home, it has a lot of amenities. My mother is very pleased with it. "

"The experience at Sunrise of Madison was very good. The rooms were very good, and the staff, maintenance, and atmosphere were excellent. I like Sunrise of Madison a lot. I love that it had a separate living room that felt very cozy, skylights, and enclosed garden. "

"Upon first walking through the doors and meeting Donna, I instantly realized that Delaney was the best decision for my mother. After searching for a few months, no other options compared to what Delaney had to offer. The apartments are beautiful and quite spacious. My mom relocated from Florida back to NJ after our dad passed. The staff and residents couldn't have been more welcoming, making her feel like family right from the start. The attentive staff at Delaney has truly exceeded expectations, providing excellent care and assistance—from organizing fun activities and social events to their support with doctors' appointments. She has been living there for five months and calls it home! I couldn't be happier for my mother."

"My mom was a resident of Mira Vie at Fanwood. The staff was extraordinary, unfortunately, many of those people have left because of the new management. It's a very attractive, appealing property. The staff's level of care and attention has been uniformly excellent throughout. They have quite a bit of activities."

"My parents moved into Brookdale Senior Living (Brookdale Florham Park) in March. I found it because it was near my house. It’s a nice place with very nice nurses and workers. The best part for me is the location. The community is very clean. It is an adjustment for my parents, but the management is very accommodating try to do what they can to make you happy. They were actually one of the more flexible ones as far as working with you on negotiating the price. The nurses are very hands-on. The one thing negative is that the nurses are not there all of the time. There’s people all of the time, but you don’t have 24-hour nursing, RN or LPN staff. After 7 p.m. until the morning, I think the person in charge is a medtech, not a nurse. So far, we haven’t had any issues. It is a nice community. There are all kinds of different doctors that come to the facility. My parents are in a nice studio room that's in perfect shape. The kitchen is really modern and decently sized, the bathroom is big with a walk-in shower. The room might be a little on the smaller side, but it is very clean and the carpet is brand new. The room looks new, but the place itself is a little dated. The carpet and some of the furniture in the common room are a little dated, too. "

"We went to tour. This place was smaller and more compact, but it was very clean. I think it might be only five years old. The lady that gave us the tour, Amanda, was very nice and very pleasant. She was very helpful and explained everything. The rooms had a common area, a small kitchenette, a living room, and two bedrooms. So you would have to share the common area with somebody else because they would be in the other bedroom. And they were very, very small. You would just have the necessities that you take with you. You couldn't take a whole bedroom set and put it in there. The only thing you could put in there would be a bed and a dresser and maybe a small chair, and that's it. The closets are small. You cannot put a lot of clothes in there. I saw the dining area, which was very clean and the tables were set nicely, but I did not have any food. They have a calendar of activities, and each day is different. They have arts and crafts, movies, and light aerobics. They have a special room where they give you physical therapy. I think they have a company that comes in and does physical and speech therapy."

"Best place near East Hanover that we could find for our mom. Very attentive aides and medical staff. My mom was in the Cottage wing. She was always kissing them and telling them how much she loved them so I know they were being very kind to her. Staff really knew best approaches to dealing with memory and Alzheimer's patients and this was really useful for me to see. Honestly, I wish I was exposed to this when mom was still at home.. Our family visited often and got to know many of the residents in the Cottage wing by name.. We loved the freedom given to her to walk around and never minded having another resident stop into her room to say hello to us. Often she would end up in other's rooms too. The staff would just guide her lovingly back to her room and it was never a problem. Of course, we could have locked the door to prevent this but we always felt safe with the other residents that were around.. My mom (who was rail thin upon arrival) just loved to eat the food in the dining room that had lots of natural light and overlooked very pretty outside space. Private rooms that come with furniture. makes everything fit together nicely. Awesome facilities in terms of areas for walking both inside and outside. Lots of very pretty places to sit and visit with a loved one (both inside and out).. Highly recommended. . "

"Somerset had outdoor paths for walking, a theater, and post office you can walk to, which is a plus. I preferred the dining there because it’s prepared to order, and you have a full menu with 20 choices. "

"I toured Sunrise of Westfield. They were eating at the time that I was there. They seemed to enjoy it. I like the facility very much. The room was kind of small, but my mom doesn't need that much room. The staff was very friendly. She introduced me to a few of them."

"Sycamore Living is brand new. It just opened in the spring. It's on the small side, but I don't know how many residents they have, I think it's under 50. It's modern and clean. My mother's been there for 2-1/2 weeks now. The staff is very informative, and they've been calling and keeping us posted on how my mother's doing, so the communication is very good. I guess the food is fine; I haven't heard any complaints. I like it. It's very open. My mother's in a private room, but I would know better if I was able to visit her and I was walking in the hallway. I only had a tour of the facility, so it's hard to say. It just looked very nice. It was an office building that was reconfigured to make it into a nursing home or whatever you call these facilities. They have assisted living, long-term care, and rehab. It's a large building, and it's brand new."

"After visiting the two assisted living facilities in my neighborhood, we chose Emeritus for my relative because it seems to us to be the cleaner and more pleasant of the two facilities. The employees were friendly and attentive to the residents. Although money was not the major factor, Emeritus offered our family more "perks" and services for our money. We are very pleased with our choice and feel that our relative is receiving outstanding care. "

"The Country Home is probably my number two choice because the people were very nice, I loved the atmosphere, and it was close enough to my home. My only concern probably was the road out front because my husband had escaped from another place, and I didn’t know if they could contain him. The rooms were simple but pleasant. The activities seemed fine. The patients were pleasant and two of them went along on the tour, and the girl, who took me on the tour, was very comfortable with them. It would have been a good place for him. They were singing and everybody would get up and dance a little bit, and a couple of ladies were interested in helping with the tour, so it seemed like they could do whatever they like to do. My husband always loves to walk, so I thought that would probably be good for him because they didn’t say no to anything. It was very comfortable and the lady who runs it seemed very efficient. "

"Spring Hills has exceptional activities staff. Speaking as a family member of a resident in the memory care section, known as Spring Cottage, I can say that the activities staff are incredible. They provide physical activity such as chair yoga and group exercise, as well as involve the Spring Cottage residents in events, BBQs, and other activities held in the community. They are really incredible at keeping them engaged! Well done."
