"The staff that I have met are awesome. The facility is clean and well managed. While there has been some turnover, they always seem to backfill in a timely manner. Dad enjoys the activities and interactions with staff and other residents. The socialization has been good for dads overall well-being. "

"Recently my aunt moved into Memory Care Unit at Crestwood, Mt Pleasant. The food is good and the activities keep her engaged. But, it’s the staff at Crestwood that sets them apart. From the first day, Andy in maintenance, along with other staff members have been there to lend a helping hand. The director, Autumn, has had an “open door” everytime family need reassurance or to listen to our concerns. One day, shortly after my aunt moved in, she was having a tough day, refusing to eat, drink or take meds. I watched as the staff cared for her with so much kindness and compassion. The staff member came in several times trying to get my aunt to take her meds. Each time, the staff member was pleasant and patient with my aunt, treating her with respect. It was at that moment I knew found the perfect place for my aunt at Crestwood! I feel Crestwood has some of the best staff in the field!!"

"Bickford of Midland was very nice and upscale, the people were friendly, and they had a schedule of activities. There's a nice homey feel to it. It was just out of my parents' price range, and my dad wasn't ready to make the jump then. They could be in assisted living together, and then just down the hall, if mom needed to go to memory care, that would be in the same building. We liked the facility, but my parents didn't like the room because it was so small. It was like going from a house to a room with a bathroom, a shower, and a mini kitchen. It was almost like a studio apartment. They were very nice, friendly and answered all my questions. I just saw the activities lady, the admissions lady and the dining room staff, and they all seemed really nice and seemed to be taking care of people well. They gave me muffins to take home to my parents and a basket of flowers. The facility was pretty new and seemed well maintained."

"It was pleasant and the staff was very helpful. We could tell that they took lots of precautions to make it comfortable for families and we were satisfied with all the offerings they had in the memory care. The rooms were maybe a little bit small, but they had lots of other common rooms and pleasant places for their residents. We were able to view the activities calendar and that looked quite good too. I believe they had regular pet therapy once a week, exercises every day, brain games, and one on one activities if needed, but also activities as a group. We saw people doing some kind of drawing or painting, so I'm satisfied that they find ways to engage people, not just park them in a corner."

"I have loved the responsiveness of the staff to my questions and concerns - a critical thing for me since I live 800 miles away. Also, there is a small app for my phone where the facility posts pictures of residential life - activities in the facility and residents as they participate. Since remembering what they do during a day can no longer be remembered, it is a way to know what is happening. I get to see my parent and other residents - they look happy, engaged, and well groomed (a task they can not do on their own). The activities happen often, and look so fun I wish I could be there to join in."

"We moved our Dad into CandleStone a few months ago and the experience has truly been amazing. We lost our mom October of last year. She was our Dad’s full time caregiver after he had a severe stroke, that left him unable to move most of his left side. As a family, we tried to take on the role of caring for him, but we could not give him the level of care he needed while working ourselves. We made the hard decision to look for assisted living homes for him. Upon walking into CandleStone with my aunt and mother-in-law, we were all amazed. From the initial safety when entering, to the vaulted ceiling, bright, open dining and common areas, and the friendly staff who greeted us; we love it! CandleStone is a clean and beautiful place. The rooms are a good size where you don’t feel cramped and the bathrooms are huge for his wheelchair! Our Dad loves to sit outside and the courtyard is so pretty with its flowers, garden and walkways. Some residents have their animals living with them and we bring our dog for visits as well. We love they allow this because animals bring joy to so many and boost the spirits of the residents! The caring nature of each staff member we have spoken and interacted with has been wonderful. They joke and tease with the residents, which our Dad loves! They come quickly if he needs any kind of assistance, all he has to do is hit his button. They have been great about cutting his food up, shaving and many other small things to help him after his stroke left him struggling to do simple things. Any issues our Dad has they call us right away just to let us know and we truly appreciate that. The strong communication by all staff makes us feel very confident in the care he is receiving. We also love all the activities our Dad gets the opportunity to participate in from daily exercises to ice cream socials, movie nights, bingo, corn hole and many more! Our Dad also is receiving therapy to maintain his abilities after his stroke. The ED Marcie, has been a strong advocate for him to get the continued therapy he needs and we are so thankful. Finding a place for a family member or anyone who is important to you is not easy. You fear they won’t be taken care of or loved the way you love them. As a family, we can say that the staff at CandleStone has put our mind at ease because they treat him like family. They have allowed our family to go back to being just our Dad’s kids who get to come visit and hang out with him. Caregiving is one of the most difficult and challenging jobs there is and the staff at CandleStone make it look and feel easy. They love what they do! If you’re looking for a place for your loved one to be loved and cared for the way you do for them, then CandleStone is the place for your family member"
