"I went to Grace Senior Living Rochester Hills. It's smaller than most. It only has 20 people in memory care, and I think 65 people, maybe in assisted living. So a total of 85 so I think they're all about the care more than about the amenities of the building. Some of them I've been to have beautiful buildings, but I don't think they're getting as good care. I like the staff a lot. They were very helpful. The nurse came to our home to interview my husband ahead of time. I've never had that happen before. So, they could custom-make a program right to his needs. So that impressed me. And it's small. It's only right now one, the owner lives locally in Rochester, and so they only own that one and they're building one other. So, the owners are hands-on. It's not a chain. Like most of them, they have a couple of hours a day where they get together as a group and they play games or they do social activities together. They also have craft rooms they go to. They get taken down for entertainment if they're interested in the first level. So, they have use of the whole building. They can go down to the assisted side, but only with either a caregiver or a family member or friend. They can't go down there without them, but they have access to the theater. They have a movie theater downstairs, entertainment, a beauty shop, and normal things. I like the smallness of it. That's part of it."

"American House Hampton Village was a very comfortable community. They've got caring staff. The maintenance and upkeep were five-stars. They had a dining area. They had activities. They had a library and a gym. It was all very nice."

"My sister has made a deposit and will be moving into American House Elmwood. The whole place was very clean. We chose it because it offered a very good-sized villa, which is independent living. She would prepare her own meals, so she did not get a meal plan. The staff who assisted us was excellent. They had a hair salon and a meeting room."

"I toured the Serene Gardens of Rochester Hills and went to about seven different places, and that's the one that pretty much stuck. I liked the director and thought she was very dedicated and had some good ideas. You could tell that she was a caring person. I liked the whole atmosphere of the facility because it didn't look depressing. I met two of the activity directors there, and they had a lot of energy. You could tell the sincerity and care from them. It's a newer facility. I lived in the area, so I saw it going up. I was impressed with both the outside and the inside. The rooms were nice, large enough, and bright. It was a nice facility."

"We are very fond of Sunrise of Troy and it is within our top 2. It had a very strict Covid protocol where you answer very extensive questions and had to take your temperature. I find that the facility is absolutely beautiful. It is very clean. The facility is located in a busy intersection but it has a lot of nature in the back, so I like that. Everybody we met there was very nice. They have a cat on the memory care side, which I like, and they used to have a dog in assisted living, which I love. I think that's just like a little piece of home for the residents who had animals. They also have lots of activities for their residents. The views of the rooms that we looked at were very pretty, looking out into the courtyard or the trees. The rooms that I saw had a small kitchenette with a built-in fridge, a microwave, and a sink."

"The memory care at American House Freedom Place Rochester is a totally separate building. It was like its own entity, so I liked that aspect of it. It would be perfect for someone who is going for memory care only. Everything about that place was great. They had a crafts room, and they had an exercise bike in the hallway. There was not a whole lot there because it's all memory care, but it's good for that purpose. The layout of the rooms was nice. The staff was super informative, nice, and thorough."

"Bickford of Shelby Township had a very much more social atmosphere. They had more activities and more ways for residents to get together. It was clean and welcoming. They had outside activities like outdoor trips. They have a barber/beauty salon. They have transportation. The staff was very friendly. They had a very good cafeteria style for dining. It was warm. They were having lunch and they seemed to like having lunch and being out of their room."

"Eleni the facility Manager is wonderful to deal with. Always attentive to questions/ concerns. Kelly, Shannon and other staff members are polite and professional. Food and food staff over the top! Can’t say enough wonderful things about this Assisted Living facility. The facility is always well maintained. Rooms and hallways spotless."

" My brother has progressed from living with our sister, to memory care in an assisted living community, to Brookdale Utica Memory Care. Every resident here is in need of memory care. The staff is highly trained and most of them have been caregivers here for years! When staff continues employment in one place you can be assured that the atmosphere is like a family. I call the staff my Brookdale family. In 9 months I have never heard, "That's not my job" or "We can't do that here." The staff listens, then tries my suggestions and I have learned so much from them! The rooms are welcoming. My brother does not feel more comfortable ANYWHERE than when tucked into his bed. He is in small groups movie watching, listening to music, enjoying holiday and birthday celebrations, playing trivia games and bingo, and a little competition in active games. The building is set up into 4 hallways of rooms, 2 dining rooms, 2 large living rooms, and has 3 inner courtyards to enjoy fresh air. A beauty salon can be accessed weekly. Believe that Brookdale Utica is the best for our family members with memory problems. He or she will be lovingly cared for, hugged, and promptly attended to when the help cord is pulled! The staff has gotten to know my brother by interacting with him in a genuine and respectful way. Our brother and his family could not be more satisfied with his care at Brookdale Utica!"
