"Independence Village of Ames is one of the places that my mother's going to put her name in for possible placement later. I also visited a friend that lives there. It's a nice place. It's very relaxed and they seem to take good care of people. I talked to the staff and they were very helpful and informative. I tried the food when my mom was there for respite care, but that was like five or six years ago. My friend's room is nice. For a one-bedroom apartment, it's nicely sized, and it's kept up quite nicely. There's a lot of people playing cards and just visiting and getting together for meals. They do puzzles."

"Finding a home for a senior loved one is never an easy choice. It certainly wasn’t for us! When a fall and surgery dictated a move out of assisted living and into a long-term facility, we had some agonizing conversations about where that facility should be. While Dad was in rehabilitative care at Perry Lutheran Home, we gave consideration to a different facility for reasons involving other family. As we navigated the rehabilitation process, we were more and more impressed with the care he was given at Perry Lutheran Home and the way in which he “fit” into their way of doing things. In short, he was very well cared for, and he was completely happy there! So, we decided that making a move was not in his best interests. What we didn’t know was what was around the corner for us! As the threat of the virus became apparent, we prayed that PLH would take the necessary steps to keep Dad and the other residents safe. With all the horror stories about other facilities having so many cases of the virus, we were so grateful that whatever PLH was doing has worked. Their residents have been kept safe! The staff at PLH has been so caring and willing to accommodate our needs. We continue to place our trust in their “process” and take comfort in knowing that Dad is in the best place he could possibly be! "

"The rooms at Journey Senior Living of Ankeny have showers with already built-in shower seats, which is nice. They don't have carpets, making it easier for wheelchairs, but also cleaning up and reducing any smells. They have a nice, fairly large courtyard in the middle of the building. It's kind of in a rectangle around the courtyard. The staff member that I met was very nice, very caring, and very much interested in making sure that the residents are treated with dignity and respect, no matter what level of decline they're in. The facility was very clean and well-maintained. I met only a couple of staff members, but they seemed very friendly and caring."

"My father stayed at Edencrest at Green Meadows. The staff was friendly and nice. His one-bedroom was nice and they put new carpet in. They had movie nights, there was a variety of things he could've participated in, and they had an exercise room and a spa room. It's laid out thoughtfully, and there's enough little areas where people can meet and talk. They're not just stuck in their room."

"My husband just moved into Edencrest at Siena Hills. It looks beautiful, it's clean and the interaction with the staff, so far, has been great. Today, they're hanging a TV and curtain rod, and so far, so good. I haven't tried the food but he had a hamburger and fries when we got there, so that was good. I'm pretty happy with the place."
