"I went on a physical tour of Westmont at San Miguel Ranch. The tour was nice. It seemed like they had updated everything. It was under new management, and it had a modern feel to it. They're the ones that had a vegan menu. It had a very open and accepting social community. They had celebrations for LGBTQ and a very inclusive layout. Their common areas were lovely, and it felt very much like a living room. People smiled and said hello. We watched people play games and they smiled at my kids. Everything there was much more like living in a high-rise community where, when you take the elevator, you can just get off and be wherever you need to be, so that's so nice. Very central locations for everything. So that one was an enjoyable experience. The staff was outstanding. They counseled us through some of the things that we were still learning as far as payments and social workers. They worked to educate us on the care of my mother and what kind of questions to ask. Even though we decided to go another route, they still were very informative. So that speaks highly of their knowledge of the market for the people who are actually in this predicament for the first time. They're very, very helpful. They had a meal house that was open all day. They had meal times but then they also had the ability to make you what you wanted if you called down, which was important because my mom's schedule wasn't always like normal meal time. They had a very safe courtyard that was all enclosed and very thoughtfully designed so that it wouldn't bring in anything that was an unpleasant view. They were open to visiting pets coming into the courtyard and they had a separate portion for people that maybe couldn't accommodate visitors or guests. They had different courtyards for different setups. "

"I toured Sun and Sea Manor. They were super nice. The place looked good and nice. The people were nice. The room was nice. The staff member who toured me around was great. They're very helpful, friendly, and down to earth. The tour was very quick because we realized it was much more care and more expensive than we needed."

"We had my mother here for several months before she died. She received really good care there. They always had a lot of people interacting and cooking on the stove, so it had a very homey atmosphere. They were always busy doing something, and the food they had for Thanksgiving was really good."

"My spouse has moved into Westmont of La Mesa. It's a wonderful community. I'm very happy with it. It's a perfect location. We live in La Mesa, so we thought that would be great. The community is beautiful. The caregivers are wonderful. They are very caring and take good care of her. They meet all of our expectations. The outdoor spaces are beautiful. In the memory care specifically, they have a beautiful patio area that opens to a wide beautiful park-like setting. For the rest of the community, they're right on the edge of a park, so they have a beautiful outdoor area for the residents."

"The Montera has been recently renovated. It's modernized and lovely. Their apartments are more than satisfactory. They are large and well kept. They have a very nice restaurant, too. The place is well located, warm, inviting and upgrading."

"I visited Right Choice Senior Living, and then I also spoke to the owner on the phone. The owner, for some reason, didn't know that I was going to be there, so he wasn't there. One of the caregivers assisted me. The tour was good. I liked it. Edgar was the caregiver, and he seemed to be very attentive to each resident. Each resident wasn't tied to a strict schedule. The residents could go outdoors if they wanted, but no gym or library that I was shown."

"Gold Canyon Care Home is a board and care. They have like six patients. The man was nice enough, but the facility was not acceptable to me. I just wasn't impressed with it. They had bright-colored rooms."

"100% love this place. All new high end quality rooms and food. The ribeye has scallops pasta so good. Mom/dad were at the villas (such a nice little home) now mom in the pointe. So nice. Big size. Staff so nice (emerald Christine's maria etc) front desk so nice (pam/mel!!!) And the activity directors!!! Brittany / kathy wow! The shuttle service and activities are great! I want to live there myself!"

"The staff are really excellent - kind, well-trained. Management keeps a good eye on how residents are treated. There are lots of activities, for all levels of ability, and the staff work hard to keep residents engaged. The quality of the apartments is high - soundproof, great plumbing, pleasant. The dining facilities are good, and when necessary, the resident may eat in their room. Management is very responsive to calls and emails. After all the horror stories you see in the news, it is wonderful to have found such a nice place for my beloved mother."

"Our tour to Ivy Park at La Jolla went fine. The single room and everything about it was very nice. The food was very good. The staff and the dining room were very nice, too. The activity room was pleasant and had a great view. It just doesn't have any place to walk outside because it's just a building and then you're immediately on the sidewalk. So, there are no outdoor amenities."

"We visited Vi at La Jolla Village. It's a deluxe, high-end facility. We liked the fact that it had all the levels of care included in the initial monthly fee as opposed to some of the facilities where you pay extra for other levels of care. We are looking for something walkable, and it's not very walkable. There's a major shopping center there, but it's very difficult to get into the village from there. That's the principal downside for us. We met the marketing staff, who were very personable and pleasant. We had an excellent meal there. They had two meals a day. The apartments were beautiful. One of the things we wanted was a fireplace, and they didn't have fireplaces, but the apartments were very well done. They modify them each time a new person comes in. They're in beautiful shape, and it's a large facility with 700 units, so they have a lot of services."

"I toured AvantGarde Senior Living of La Jolla. The staff told me that my friend wouldn't be able to have a private room, but the papers that the social worker had sent me said that he could have a private room. The staff was awesome. It's very clean, but it is an older place. They've got it fixed up real cute, but I didn't like the shared rooms. It was a good atmosphere. It seemed like all the patients who were there were very happy. The shared room has a curtain in between down the middle, just like a hospital room. It's in a beautiful location. It's right in the middle of La Jolla. It's near the water. You can take the bus, and it drops you off right near there. It's a beautiful neighborhood that they're in."
