"We will be moving into Maplewood; it has all of the features that we are looking for to be able to move to independent living, and assisted living as needed without having to move. They also have memory care, skilled nursing care, and rehab. It had everything we were looking at for the progression that would be the least disturbing and you don’t have to leave and go to another complex someplace else. That was a deciding factor. We met various staff members and the residents. However, the units were smaller, and we were having a difficult time downsizing. "

"I visited Thirwood Place and I didn't want to come home. I wanted to stay there forever. I went there because I have friends that lived there. To enter, you have to have a good deal more money than I have. It was expensive. But you get what you pay for and then some. Anybody who can afford it, I can't say enough about Thirwood. My friends have been trying to get me to move there for years. They've been in independent living there for two years. I had dinner there twice. With their plan for independent living, they get dinner every night. But you have the choice of having dinner every night or, for slightly less, just 16 meals a month. My friends were having lunch in a cafe there and you only have to pay like $4.50 to get lunch. That was good and the food was fine. They have a heated indoor swimming pool for everybody. There are trails, a forest, and a lake. My friends have picture windows that overlook this bit of forest and the lake. I would say they have a very wide variety of activities. You probably couldn't do better. They say it's expensive, but you get what you pay for. It's worth it. Every room has a way to call for help if you need it. Every morning, between eight and ten, you get a phone call, and if you don't respond, someone comes to your room. Which is important if something happens to you. There are lots of common areas that are beautifully appointed. There's even a piano in some of them. There's quite a variety of plans. They have the more expensive and larger units that are in places called the village, which are separate buildings from the main building. My friends are in one of those. They have a 2-bedroom, 2-bath unit. The units have either a balcony or a patio. They also have a golf course, and you can get transportation if you need to go to a drug drugstore to pick up prescriptions or something like that. Then there are other occasions where you can get transportation to things if you can't drive. Plus, they have tours. My friends had just been on a tour to a cranberry bog where they learned all about cranberries. I would be getting all my breakfasts and lunches, and I'm always looking for organic foods, and they're not too far away from Hyannis. There's every kind of shopping you can imagine, and people want to go there. It's just a beautiful area and a beautiful setting. Every place you drive is beautiful along the way. It's just a wonderful place."

"My father has moved into Our Island Home. They take Medicaid. They're extremely responsive and helped me through the whole process. The staff members are super friendly, very informative, and again, very, very helpful. It looks like every other nursing home. I had a meal there, and it was a pretty standard meal. It wasn't anything crazy elaborate, but it was like whole real food. I had chicken, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. The place was very clean. We had a few appointments set up, but we liked that one the best as far as the cost and closeness to us."

"Windemere had assisted care and full care. It seemed to be a wonderful facility. Anyone I had known whose parents or relatives had been there had been very happy with it. However, it was understaffed from what I understood. They had more needs than they had people working. I had eaten the food that was prepared by the hospital's kitchen, and it was delicious and very good. I could only tell you how things were when my father was there, but I thought you had to be an advocate for your family member. If you showed them that you were interested, they were very good in making sure that your family member was cared for. My father was in a very large two-bedroom -- which was not crowded at all -- but he was sharing it with another man. They had all kinds of activities. They had music, religious services, and musical entertainments. They brought animals in like dogs and cats for the people to interact with. They had arts and crafts. They had tons of things going on. I thought they need to improve on having more staff like CNAs, nurse's aides -- anybody that would be taking care of the things that were so important to be done. My dad was there for a month, and he actually died there. They were so sensitive and caring for him at the end of his life. It was quite wonderful. Living there was like living in a giant family, and everybody took care of everybody else. We were very fortunate. "

"I was generally not impressed with Royal of Harwich. I realize it's an antique house, but the rooms were old-looking. It's all so old and sort of shabby, and I wasn't sure that it's actually clean. The dining room was just a room with tables in a big open space. The staff who showed me around was nice, but she just kind of gave me a quick tour because I don't believe it's her job. When I walked in, there was an aide or a nurse on the first floor and then they have a balcony above, and there was another aide up above yelling back and forth about somebody's medication. It just didn't hit me. They didn't really seem safe either because they showed me a studio with an outside door to a little brick patio with no railing whatsoever. Any elderly person going out there could just fall off. It wasn't raised, and it was on ground level, but you'd have to step down, which is hard to do with a walker."

"This is a very nice facility. The staff is friendly and goes out of their way to ensure that the family feels welcome when visiting their loved ones. I have called numerous times and always forget the room number of my family member and they know who she is by first name and her exact room number. The building itself is clean and smells good. My family member is very happy with her room and with the meals she receives. She would prefer a private room to a shared one but that is unavailable at this point. She also likes the activities that are available to her and enjoys watching TV with the other residents in the recreation room. We, the family, really appreciate how attentive the staff is to any changes our family member might be going through. If she has a bad day they are very aware of it and let us know what happened and why they think she was agitated. They spend the time to chat with her and make her tranistion from being independent to now being under their care a seamless one. We are very happy to have found this facility. "

"I'm getting therapy at The Pavilion Rehab and Nursing Center. The only problem with that is, with the virus going around, you have to kind of stay in your room, and you can't go down the hallway and all. They've got a number of people with the virus, so they have to keep you away from them, but things are pretty good. The food is very good. I'm satisfied with it. The place is very clean. They get you up in the morning, get you ready to go, and then you have your physical therapy. The food has been very good. They come by and you get to choose your lunch and dinner, and that's pretty good. The staff is good. If you need something, they get it for you. They're pretty friendly, and they make sure you get everything you need."

"I went to Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation - Eagle Pond for a week or so. It was adequate. The physical therapy that I needed was very good. The food was good. The chairs and bed weren't very comfortable, and I stayed in bed most of the time. The room needed a recliner. I was in a lot of pain from my knee and trying to do the rehab and resting in between, so there wasn't much time for socialization. There were times when the staff was busy, and I wasn't always answered immediately, but they were pretty good. "
