My dad has been at Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home for 2 weeks now. They gave me a lot of really good support in knowing the best timing to place him. My father has Alzheimer's, so it's important that we timed it well. After he was admitted, they gathered a group of people together as his care team to make sure that his medical needs were met, as well as his special needs. So, I was very impressed with that. The staff has been amazing. They would always greet you when you passed by them in the hallway. His room is good, no complaints there. It's a simple room and it's working fine for us. Because he is in the memory care unit, he doesn't eat a lot in the dining area. But when I went on the tour, their dining area was quite nice. One of the things that they have there is a flight simulator, which is pretty cool. They also have Friday bingo. Wherever you go into any of the common areas in each of the wings, you'll see staff members there actually playing games or sitting with the residents. They're not ignored.

While the facility is clean and shiny, my 100 year old uncle is not receiving the care that he deserves. He is rarely taken out of the bed, has terrible cradle cap from not being cleaned properly, recently I found his toenails grown so long that they were curling under his toes. I know it's hard to care for so many people, but he is blind and helpless and more attention should be paid to his condition.

The staff was very friendly. They seemed properly staffed with a decent amount of employees per group of guests. The food was good and the resident I adopted seemed happy enough in his surroundings. They even assisted him in cracking the pecans he picks up off the grounds! The rooms were clean and they had multiple activities available for residents. The staff was very helpful for each resident, and they even joked with them and made them laugh and feel at ease.
