Almost Like Home

The name describes the place perfectly. It is just like home. Most nursing homes are are strict schedules of when to get things done. But here it is more catered to what the residents needs are. I noticed that some enjoy bathing in the morning and other later during the day. Meal time is no different. They do organize a family type gathering meal where everyone comes into a large kitchen that would look just like they may have at home and sit around a nice large oak table. Those who just are not ready to eat will be served later. The staff really makes the place seem just like home. They treat everyone like they are there to help, but not so much as a paid worker. They are like family. The living area is beautifully decorated that makes everyone feel like they really are home. Sleeping areas are just like bedrooms and not typical nursing facility sleeping rooms. They can decorate with their own furniture if they wish to. I dreaded putting my mother into a "home", but this transition was so easy. It was just like home!
