"I visited the independent living community of The Terrace at Kingwood Town Center. What I liked best was the way it was set up for independent living. It still gives senior citizens the ability to live independently, and it also gives them choices. For instance, the dining area is set up as a restaurant. It's open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., they order off a menu, and the menu changes daily, weekly, and monthly. It's not cafeteria style where the meal is three times a day, they have to be there at a certain time, and the residents only get certain meals. Here, there's lots of choices for food, entertainment, and socialization, so it seemed like a more active community. The staff is friendly, efficient, and seems knowledgeable. The layout of the building, to me, was a little confusing, just because it seemed like a lot was going on. It was very clean though, with maintenance people who I saw there. They have a broken elevator, but they were working on getting it fixed, so they seemed active in working on everything, which is nice. There were people gathered in different areas socializing and visiting, and that was also nice to see. We are choosing this place for my mother because it's close to my home, very affordable, and the value is there. A lot of these places cost about the same or maybe a little more, but they weren't as accommodating and uplifting. I also didn't get the same feeling from the residents as I got from this place."

"I'm now at Kingwood Senior Village. I love it here. There are lots of activities and lovely people that live here. I have many, many friends. The manager is very caring. The condition of the place is very nice. No problem with the maintenance. I needed a new light bulb, and it came the next day. The staff are good, and it's very well kept. For activities, something is going on every day. We manage our own activities; I help arrange them. Value for money is very good."

"I have moved into Ivy Point Kingwood. All the residents seem so warm and friendly. When we drove up it felt like I was coming home. Just looking at the apartments, they have a homey feel. I have a two-bedroom apartment, the living area has hardwood floors, the bedrooms are carpeted, and there's a huge walk-in closet and a regular-sized closet in the guest bedroom. It was extremely clean. We looked for dust everywhere and didn't find any. Being a new resident, I have met several of the residents in the complex, and they're all long-time residents, so that's awesome. It's that kind of place, which certified my selection of this apartment. It's very modern, has up-to-date appliances, and there's a side-by-side refrigerator rather than the old little top freezer. The staff was very friendly, they greet you in the morning when you see them for the first time, and they seem to know what they're doing. The lead maintenance man is extremely good, he's programmed a garage door opener for me, and he's going to mount some art on the wall for me. The staff is professional and very good. They have activities every day, and sometimes they had a couple of morning and afternoon activities. They even have church services once or twice a month, and then they have a guest choir that comes in and does music once a month on Sundays and Saturdays. They have a little poker tournament on Saturday afternoons if you don't want to watch football or baseball, we also have arts and crafts, there's a garden club, and a book club."

"I went to tour Mosaic Senior Living Communities, but they didn't answer the door. There was a gentleman who seemed to be sitting in the garage on a very hot Texas day, so I think there was a lack of air there. It was in a residential neighborhood. They need to improve on answering the door and caring for their residents. The staff who assisted me lacked friendliness. It was a very tiny home with no extra amenities."

"We have chosen Watercrest at Kingwood. Hopefully, my sister will move in March. We chose it because they were very reasonable. It's a very beautiful place. It offered more than what others had to offer. At a more reasonable price, we were offered a larger apartment with more closet space and more features than any of the others I saw. They have a swimming pool, and they can have your washer and dryer in your apartment, so you don't have to go down the hall for it. The place was very clean."

"My sister has passed but she was staying at the Wentworth apartment before and she was very happy there. It's an apartment complex for seniors that don't have assisted living types of services. It is a fantastic place; they've got beautiful apartments. The manager is very, very helpful in terms of providing home help and extra services for the seniors. It's a very nice community, and offers a really good experience for the people living there. "

"Riverbrook Village Apartments is a very nice place. I would highly recommend it. It's very quiet. The grounds are very kept up. My apartment here is very nice and clean. The staff person I met is a very nice person and very flexible to work with. They have some activities. I haven't been getting involved in it because I just recently moved, but I know they have a swimming pool. It's income-based so the price pretty much goes by my income. For what I am getting, it's worth it. I have a place to park. You never have to pay parking fees. As far as safety, the lights in the hallways are always on. I'm very satisfied with the safety."

"Whispering Pines of the Woodlands was a 5-star community. It's on 11 acres and they had walking trails and outside patios. I liked the kitchen the most. They had a dish room that was separate from the food prep room because they said they didn't want any cross contamination from that area. I've never seen a facility like that. It was a pretty big community. It was larger than what I would've wanted for my brother because with Parkinson's and COPD, it was quite a walk from the rooms to the day area and cafeteria. He might get winded with the distance that he would have to travel. However, they had wheelchair assistance available, but as much as possible he likes to walk."

"Everything at Humble Memorial Gardens has been great. The apartment itself is 874 sq. ft. large and I'm by myself and it's great. I have two bedrooms because I have a computer, a sewing machine and a craft table and do a lot of crafty things. I have the extra bedroom and then I have my sleeping area. The people here have been exceptionally nice. They're willing and very helpful in doing whatever needs to be done if anything should happen. There's no downside. "

"The Henry at Deerbrook didn't have any availability for five years, as they told me. They had nice-sized rooms, and it was pretty clean. I liked it. The living atmosphere was very relaxing. I would say it's pretty safe there. I would give them a five for their level of care there. They did pretty well when it came to customer service."

"Loving Touch Resident Care was a house, but it was clean. Tanya, the person that runs it, was pretty nice and helpful. I don't have any complaints. The rooms were tidy, nice, clean, and homey. There are also TVs in the rooms. The residents could sit outside and they take them to field trips once a week. It was a house, so their dining room was just a table but it was clean."
