"We're moving Dad in next weekend. Very clean, set up, very nice, with very friendly staff. It's a nice place, and easy to work with. The apartment was very spacious, and the one that we picked, he can be assisted or independent. So we'll never have to move him again. It has room for a kitchen table. The dining area was very nice, open, and spacious. I think there's three different places in that one you can eat at. It's just clean and well kept up. They have plenty of events, and an event calendar that should be very helpful. There was something going on every day. Shelly was excellent to work with."

"My mom is at The Lodge at White Bear, A Sky Active Living Community. They have a shuttle bus and a bus driver that would take her to her doctor's appointment. She can't drive because it's winter. Plus, we want her to stop driving, so we like having that ability to have someone drive her. They cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In the room, there's no stove, but they have a microwave and a fridge. They promote socialization there, especially when they're eating. They don't want them to eat in their room. They have crafts and stuff going on pretty much every day. They had somebody come in there and read poetry when I was there. They also had somebody else come in and sing. If you want a garage, it's only $50 a month. My mom could also bring an animal. She did have a little dog, but she ended up having to re-home him. However, that was just a one-payment deposit. The payment for a one-bedroom monthly includes everything except the phone and the garage if you have a car. The lady that runs it is very, very nice. She promotes a good environment. The people there are very, very nice, too. I was there for two weeks with my mom, helping her get situated. I can't compare it to anything else, but I wouldn't mind living there. There are more women than men. My mom, who had lived in her last place for 30 years, was very nervous about moving in, but she felt very welcome. She also felt that all of the ladies were helping her. Her neighbor, who is 98 years old, is helping my mom figure out the mail and the laundry. My mom is fine now. She is feeling good about it. She is not stressed out and is not feeling lonely. They're always knocking on her door and checking on her. They also provide a Life Alert for her, and she doesn't have to pay for that. I can't say enough about them. I live in Florida, and my mom lives in Minnesota, and I would have to say it has been all very, very good. They have three options for food, and I think that's a good thing. They have someone clean their rooms once a week, and that's included in the fee, too. The staff members help my mom tremendously, and they're very, very wonderful to her. So that's all I care about. They're responsive and all that. The building is always clean, and I always see them cleaning. It doesn't smell. It's very nice for an old building. It's very well maintained. It looks really good. They have quite a few activities, and they have a new activities director. There's a lady who has been there for 10 years, and she still has a smile on her face. If you want to participate, they have a lot of different things to do, so I think it's great. The value is outstanding."

"I visited. It's good, we would have liked her to be there. Beautiful facility. We were concerned about it being too large, but we were willing to try it. Staff was willing to work with us to keep her world small. They have memory care, of course we didn't want to put her anywhere that didn't have memory care. I visited the assisted living, my husband visited the memory care, and then the Covid thing all came about, so I did not get to see that part. Staff seemed to be very helpful. Of course, you're always working with the marketing person. The food is very important to me. I want her to have fresh prepared meals, not canned, a bunch of canned food. They were very pleasant, modern, she probably would've had a little kitchenette which she does not have where she is. We would've liked that. She could have had her breakfast on her own, had a little more alone time in the morning, but she's managing well at the facility where she is. It was like a restaurant dining room, it was beautiful, and it was open. I did not see the kitchen. I saw their smallest room. I saw suite and we would've like something a little bigger at that time when we were looking."

"It was a little bit of a smaller building, but the building was extremely clean. The apartments were a very nice size and weren't too small. All their apartments are the same, but with assisted living, you pay a little extra, and they have somebody who goes in and checks on them every day. It depends on how much care they need. They had different levels based on the need. They had a one-bedroom apartment that had a full kitchen and a full bathroom with a shower. The people were nice, too. They were very pleasant to me. They were very understanding, knowing that my father-in-law wasn't ready to go. The girl who typically did the tour was gone, so the staff who gave us a tour was just filling in, and she was fabulous, too. They could get meals every day. The facility was updated. They had lots of things for them to do. When I get old, I'm going to live there. The only downside was that it was probably a little bit expensive, but from my research, I found that all of that assisted living is fairly expensive. It wasn't outrageous compared to others, but maybe just a little bit higher than others."
