Independent Living Communities in Buchanan, MI

"I'm in The Village at Arborwood Senior Community. It's a wonderful community. It is independent only; there's no assisted living or memory care. It's a non-smoking facility, which I very much like. It is bright and cheerful. So far, the people have been absolutely wonderful. There's a little dog park out back, and it has plenty of carports and storage. The meals are not built into the rate. They are extra, with the lunches at $7 and suppers at $12. There is a full menu, and there is always regular food provided every day. The kitchen in each unit is very well set up. It's for independent people and a lot of them like to do their own cooking. "

"I'm going to move into Whispering Pines. It seemed great. It's not spacious, but it's going to have amenities for my husband. I have to move where he can get to the bottom floor because he is wheelchair bound, but I'm not that enthused because the rooms and the bedrooms are not large enough for me. The staff was very nice."

"Woodland Terrace was hospitable, and the facilities were OK. I did not care for the fact that after supper, there was no medical person on duty at all and it was very expensive for what they offered. Also, if your care needs accelerate, you'd have to leave your apartment and go to another building. The rooms looked fine, but were inconsistent because for the same price, some rooms had a fridge and a stove and others had a microwave. For the same pricing and the same square footage, you should be offered the same thing. I had a sample of lunch that was OK. They were all playing games at a table. They had an activities director that made up a game for them where every time you get a right answer, you got a penny. She would make up games instead of playing already established games. She was inventive, and they liked it. "

"I like St. Paul's a lot. The place was excellent, the people were nice, and I had a real good interview. Everything was great and clean. I would love to get in there. The staff was excellent, knew everything about it, all my questions were answered, and was very professional. It was lunchtime when I was there and the food looked excellent. Everybody was pleased with the food and it smelled pretty good to me. They explained the activities to me, which sounded great."

"We really enjoyed Primrose Retirement. We found it to be an outstanding community. The staff members were very helpful. We looked at two primary residence type units. One was an apartment, a two-bedroom, two-bath, and the other was a patio home. They had all kinds of amenities and opportunities to do things. It was one of the things we enjoyed most about the visit."

"My mother-in-law is going to Hubbard Hill. I think it is very good. It is excellent. I am ready to get a room and go there. That's how nice it is. They have musicians come in. They built an outdoor amphitheater. They have a garden. It has courtyards and aviaries inside. They have a library. Computers are available. They have cooking demonstrations. It is sort of community driven by whatever the people show a desirein; if they can possibly do it, they will do it. They have physical therapy. They have massages and a salon. Their dining room is very nice. It has tablecloths. They can go in, sit down, and order from a menu. It is really sweet. Everybody is really nice. Then they have a bistro if they want something different. They serve 3 meals a day. They even have villas for people that can drive. Couples can move there if they want. "
