"I like Victory Court Senior Apartments. The place was lovely, very clean, and well situated in a secluded part of a very busy city. The very proximal position to lots of places within walking distance made it a great location. The downtown area of Rockville surrounds the facility. They have computer and printer room services. They have a living room with a fireplace and bookshelves. They have a great hall room with a very high 30-foot ceiling and balconies. That room exits into a beautiful round garden. I came into contact with the assistant property manager, and she was very helpful, informative, knowledgeable about the surrounding area and facility, and answered all my questions. It's a very new-looking building. The maintenance, grounds, parking, and everything else were very well cared for."

"We toured Hessler Heights Gracious Retirement Living, and right now, my wife and I, it's our number one choice. We met with Terry, the director of sales. I've been in touch with him. He showed us a one-bedroom. He showed us all the costs, which were more in our budget area, which includes a meal plan, because their units only have a fridge, and they don't have a full kitchen. So, you must partake of all three meals, which is fine because we saw the menus and the dining facilities. We like all the activities, from bingo to exercise rooms. They have a walking pass. We liked the location, Leesburg. It was a little further northwest, but I like that way of getting away from the traffic of the Maryland D.C. area."

"We toured. They were probably the most engaging with the residents of all three I visited. The staff seemed to have a very good relationship. There were a lot of things going on and a lot of events. The residents and the staff were like a team, like they were together like it was all one thing. I was impressed with that. They are going through some renovations there. Every room was different because they were in the process of updating rooms. Some of the rooms were really upbeat, pretty modern, and well done, and then others had not been renovated in a while. They told me they had a renovation program going on where they were renovating some parts of the facility. The upkeep looked good."

"I liked Wingler House. The apartment was pretty nice. The bathroom was a little small, and the kitchen was a little small, but it had a pantry for the kitchen, which I liked. The person who toured me was fine, but not very pleasant. They had more activities than some of the others, like exercise classes. They also had vans that go places."

"Cadence Living Olney was very nice and very clean. It was decorated nicely. I felt like they were very buttoned up, which is what you want to make sure you have for your loved ones. They gave a great tour. They had a hairdresser and I saw an outdoor garden area. They seemed to have a good ratio of staff to residents. There were plenty of activities and they had the staff to support it. The rooms looked pretty nice. The showers did not have a lift, it was straight. If someone needs to roll in, they could just roll straight in."

"It was very nice. The staff was very kind and helpful. The apartment was very nice and roomy and had plenty of room to accommodate wheelchairs. We had some initial concern about my loved one being able to get into the bathroom in the wheelchair, but she was able to do it because she had enough room. I thought most of the activities were self-generated, and people could take advantage of services provided, like a gymnasium, physical therapy place, swimming pool, and other physical therapy and equipment. It had a library and an activities room where they played games and puzzles. Plus, they had a bus services that took the residents to various places to go shopping at nearby grocery stores, department stores, and pharmacies. They took them on trips and tours to places like museums and theaters for plays and musicals. We ate there three times, and all three times, the staff was very pleasant, helpful, and accommodating. It was quite nice, and the food was nice, too."

"I made a deposit at Modena Reserve at Kensington, and I'm on their waitlist. It's very nice. It's a little smaller without being too small. When I was there, everyone seemed to be very pleasant. I won't say everyone has a smile on their face, but I didn't see people who look disgruntled, which tells me that it's a relatively easy place. I like the way they have the place set up. I also like it being in Kensington, which has some interesting stuff close by. It's very close to where my friends are based. I met some people during the tour who lived there, and they all seemed quite friendly and just having a good day. They have some books that you can take to read. They have a good library in that sense, but it's more like a cart that is located in one of the public areas. There are some pretty recent books and some fairly vintage books, so it was a nice mix of titles. They have a small gym or an exercise room kind of place. One of the things that they have that is important to me is they have a salon onsite with both nails and hair, so I don't have to worry about finding a place other than there. They have a craft room, too. Most of the public areas are very open and very bright. They have a nice little viewing room that is set up like a theater."

"I toured Hunters Woods at Trails Edge. The layout is gorgeous, and it's a nice setting. The people that I saw seemed very happy and engaged. It was different than the others because I didn't see many people even though they were full. I saw their dining area, but I did not try the food. Their dining area looked nicely maintained, clean, and pretty. It was a nice presentation. The rooms were very nice, too. There are different sizes of studios and different sizes of one-bedrooms. It's good that there's a good variation even among the rooms. The staff member who gave the tour was fantastic. She was very, very good. She answered all my questions. They have a different pricing model than most places, and she was able to explain it well. I was very impressed with her. There is a beautiful set of walking trails. Even if it's just for residents to sit on the balcony and enjoy the pretty wooded areas and the people walking along the trails and all, it's a beautiful setting."

"Elternhaus is a truly unique and special assisted living facility. I can speak intimately to this having had my father there for six years, and now my mother. The staff are kind and engaging. The care is individualized to meet each residents’ needs. The administrator, Tim, is on site during business hours and often at other times. Tim and other staff eat family style lunch with the residents and encourage discussions, conversations and interaction. Other than this time of coronavirus, there have been many regular activities to engage the residents. We recently placed my mother here and wound not have considered any other facility. Elternhaus has become like family to us. Their efforts to make this a smooth transition even while maintaining the highest and safest standards for the residents’ protection during this pandemic have been above and beyond. "

"My grandmother has just moved into Wilshire Estates Gracious Retirement Living. So far, it's great. The place was built in 2020 during the COVID, so it's brand new. It was large, and it was nice. They had all sorts of amenities that other places didn't have. There were lots of different floor plans to choose from. Price points are a lot different. I ate there over the weekends, and it was nice. They have different options for each meal. They have like a dessert cart that they bring around with about five or six different options, they have like a bakery corner so you can stop and get donut, muffin, or coffee, and they have an ice cream bar area where you can get soft serve with different topping, and that's just 24 hours a day. It is like a cruise ship on land."

"It is all about the people! In August 2024, we moved from the Farrcroft subdivision (Fairfax) to The Trillium Tysons. At the time, we could not have anticipated how much we needed to be at The Trillium or how much The Trillium family would change our lives for the better. In our Fairfax community, we knew 6 people but were genuine friends with only 2. Within the last 6 months at the Trillium, we have acquired 100+ new friends among residents and 60+ among staff. We enjoy friendships and opportunities for socialization with residents in Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care apartments. The residents and staff represent a diverse population from around the world with richly inspiring experiences to share. Personally, we have had a few unexpected health issues in the last six months, but we have felt the support, loving embrace of the Trillium community that would ordinarily find only in a close-knit family. The facility is gorgeous throughout the 15 floors. The restaurants accommodate individual needs/requests and consistently offer 5-star meals daily. There are so many exemplary daily activity opportunities that one has to choose among them. These include guided physical activity, arts and crafts, education, games, and entertainment both within The Trillium building but also excursions into the larger metropolitan community. Apartment maintenance, housekeeping, and transportation services are provided expeditiously at the highest level of quality. Have there been a few glitches in a newly constructed building? Of course. Could some processes be more efficient? Yes. However, the overall collective experience is extraordinary. Moving to The Trillium is one of the best decisions we have made in our long lives. We have rediscovered joy in our senior years. We consider ourselves blessed and fortunate to be living at The Trillium surrounded by such wonderful people."

"I visited Harmony at Chantilly. They were wonderful and fabulous. The rooms were beautiful. The only problem that I had with the rooms there was the shower. The rooms were open, very bright, and had good space. They just had a shower that, for my mom who has a walker and is not too steady on her feet, was not safe. The staff were fantastic and fabulous."

"The lady who took me around The Sanctuary, a Mount Jezreel Senior Housing Community, was very nice. I only went to one available apartment and it's not that big. I need a little bit more space than that. The atmosphere was good. The secure door and everything were good. The community was clean and well-kept. They had a library and a room you can rent out for events, like a birthday party, or something like that. I only saw one person, and she was very nice. The place was silent. There was no noise."

"I visited Greenbrier Assisted Living which is all in one level. My tour experience with them was excellent. The staff that walked me through was also excellent, they were very good and it was a very good experience. I didn't think it would be like a real house that's been converted, it's very clean and the furnishings were nice. It was very, very nice. The facility itself was exceptional, it's very clean and has an updated atmosphere. Their location is convenient. They have an elevator and a very large common area for the residents to come together, socialize and watch TV."
