"Our tour of Covenant Living of Cromwell was great. It was awesome. It was like a hotel when you walked in there. It was absolutely beautiful. The staff was amazing. They had a cafeteria, a restaurant, and then they had a coffee shop. So there were three places you could go for a meal. They had a snack room, too. They allow you to have three meals a day, but it was like a credit card setup where they give you so much money every month and allotment for food. I think it was $300 for each person a month. The menus were awesome. The apartments were very nice. They even had a deck where you could go outside (each one had a patio deck). It's very quiet and you could bring pets if you wanted to. They had a movie theater, a music room, and an activities room where you could crochet or needlepoint or have any hobbies, you could do it there. They kept their residents engaged with a bunch of activities going on. We would have picked it, but we just couldn't afford it. It was a little on the high side."

"This was the only senior living community I visited, after checking out other places via web sites and phone calls. I came to one open house...11 minutes from my country-setting home in Killingworth...and I knew immediately this could be my next home. Compared to other places in CT, Chester Village met all my needs; a lovely rural setting, small cozy layout of connected buildings, lovely grounds, expansive updated apartments, pet friendly, yummy food and incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable staff. I moved in last fall and have discovered what a Gem on the Shoreline Chester Village is. Now, with 9 months under my belt, I have found a family of seniors of varied backgrounds who make the place feel like home! I am very social and outgoing, so I have made many friends and am more active, creative and happier than I was the previous 6 years! The staff is phenomenal in every way! Kind, helpful and REAL! If there is a problem with anything, there is someone who will work on resolving it or find someone else who can address the issue. Masonicare has invested dedicated resources, time and attention to updating the campus- in their effort to provide the best experience for those living and working here. "I toured Victoria Gardens Apartments. They provide meals, and they have transportation. They have community groups for everyone and get together. I chose Victoria Gardens Apartments because of the cost and location. The staff was very friendly and informative, but the rooms could be a little bigger. The place is nice. It has a small library, and the area is quiet. It's close to parks and walking, and my bank is close by."

"I toured Fairview - The Odd Fellows Home of Connecticut. I was hoping to get my aunt in there. It's superb. I know them from having visited the father of a friend three years ago who was in their skilled nursing/memory care, and they're amazing at what they do in their memory unit, even so far as finding out from the family what kind of music that the individual likes. Each resident got a little Nano. They had a cage of lovebirds and a beautiful aquarium. It's very enriching, especially for people like my aunt now who doesn't have an immediate grasp on their memories. The staff was truly excellent and incredible. It is the most updated one here for skilled nursing. They just went through an incredible rebuild two to three years ago. It's immaculate, plus there were lots of windows and lots of light. It's just clean as can be. They really set the standard."

"My mother moved into evergreen woods last year. It was the best move she’s made in years. Everyone there is very friendly and respectful. "Heritage Commons was very good and I was very pleased. It's beautiful. The apartments are gorgeous and they're different sizes according to residents' needs. The make you dinner, but you have a full kitchen in your apartment so you don’t get lunch and breakfast. Everybody was extremely friendly. I liked it. I spoke to a couple of residents and they all spoke highly of it. The dining area was very comfortable. They had a long list of activities."

"My brother moved to the assisted living facility of Luther Ridge in Middletown. There are only so many in the state of Connecticut, and they are subsidized, so that was the closest one that made sense to us. They also look good, and I'm happy with them, so far. Right now, my brother definitely has dementia, and he's showing signs that he doesn't want to stay on the property. I think they are doing a better job of curtailing that behavior and making sure he's safe. They have super nice and good staff. My brother is not happy with the food, but he's more of a vegan, so he doesn't care for it that much. They have a library and an outdoor space. The price they are charging for rent and food is very reasonable, but that's subsidized, so the government is helping with that."

" Entire HR staff continually offers immediate help and answers to situations that have, are happening, or future situations that might need preventative measures. All dinning staff members are first rate. Immediately inform them when a special type diet is required. They immediately work with you. Transportation and maintenance are extremely helpful when required. All Masonicare employees go above and beyond their job descriptions to provide care and guidance constantly. "

"Masonicare is a bigger facility with a great staff and a lot of activities going on all of the time. Mother is very happy in an apartment with a huge bath, bedroom, a living room, and a little kitchenette. They have bingo, happy hours, exercise classes, movies, cooking classes, and just about everything. The meals are great in the dining area, which is beautiful and has linens and fresh flowers on the tables. "
