Palmyra Nursing Home

My wife was at PruittHealth – Palmyra, and it was terrible. She only stayed for one night, but when I went over there, they wouldn't tell me anything. The staff pretty much wouldn't talk to me. They completely ignored me and never answered my questions. The room was clean, but we really only spent one night there.

The nursing home is located on a busy street that is also named Palmyra. On the front step there are rocking chairs and potted plants. On the inside it looks clean and well-staffed. It smelled like Bengay and stool. And I have found that older people generally smell that way. The rooms are just enough for the resident(s) and maybe a visitor. The room that my uncle was in had two beds and he had a roommate that chewed snuff. I know that my uncle didn't chew snuff but when I came back he was chewing it too! And he actually swallowed it! I asked his roommate why did he give it to him he said he offered and he accepted. The staff has a semi-attentive attitude. When I told them about this incident they didn't seem too concerned. They don't look happy or sad, they look like they are just there. My uncle was there maybe a month before he passed. probably from swallowing all that snuff

I have had the unpleasant experience of dealing with several nursing homes in and around the Albany area. I have found that Palmyra Nursing Home is the worst! I am convinced that the lack of care that this facility exhibited is the reason for my loved one's downfall. They are not professional, not trained well, and worst of all I have NEVER encountered anyone at this facility who acts like they care about the residents or their families. I would not recommend Palmyra Nursing Home to anyone! After we removed my loved one from this place I heard someone say that you should not put someone into Palmyra Nursing Home unless you want them to die, I certainly believe and agree with that statement now. Do not go there and pray for the people who are already there!
