"I was initially impressed with the cleanliness and professionalism of the staff when I visited the facility. But once I moved my Grandpa in, I wasn't happy with the care he received. More than once when I visited, I found him with soiled pants, and it seemed that he hadn't been checked on by the staff in hours (during one late afternoon visit, I found lunch dishes still on the tray next to his bed). I moved him to another facility and was glad I did. "

"I've visited Plantation Oaks Senior Living and there wasn't anything I disliked about the place. They have very good staff who were very caring, they're eager to find a place that fits our needs, and they're very professional. The food was very tasty, it was a balanced diet that was served very nicely. They have activity rooms, they have an area where they can do different arts and crafts, they have a large front porch with rocking chairs that people can go out and sit in. They have kind of a horticulture situation where people could plant in their little gardens, and they seemed to enjoy that. They had entertainment, a lot of bingo, and other activities like that."

"If I was looking for a residential facility, Mayflower Assisted Living would be one I would consider. The cost is more affordable. I didn't see that many amenities. They have a little game room where they have games, board games or what have you. There weren't any other amenities that I saw as far as having a gym or anything like that. I know they were making some improvements to the rooms. It's a pretty simple facility. I saw a couple of different bedrooms that were available. One of them was a double. It was pretty small, and there was very little storage space or personal space for each person. One was a bit larger, but it was actually occupied at the time. It was a good size. The nearest hospital would be about 20 to 25 miles away. There aren't a lot of restaurants in High Springs. There are a few fastfood places, but not a sit-down restaurant. It would probably be about 10 miles to a sit-down kind of facility. The place looked pretty clean from what I saw. It looked like they kept it pretty clean around there. The little recreation room that I was waiting in was also kind of the cafeteria where they had their meals, and it was clean. "

"Riverwood Lodge felt homey. It’s small, very clean, and brand new inside. They supply everything. The rooms have their own shower and bath facilities and a closet wherein you can hang clothes. "

"I was very impressed with it, but that's based on one visit only. I thought they had an excellent place. They provided entertainment and opportunities like painting and stuff like that, so I was very impressed. Overall, I would give it a very high rating. When it's time for me to go someplace, that probably is where I would go. For activities, they had someone singing, they had a piano, and they had art classes, so those were nice. It was clean, it smelled clean, and it was very inviting. I met with the man in charge of the tour, and he was very kind. He even gave me a bottle of wine, which was very nice. I was very impressed with him, too. It seemed like he was very well-suited for that job. They had a really good cook there, too. They had muffins out and I've got to say it was delicious. The physical facility itself was in good condition. It had a good smell, and it was very appealing. I saw a room and it looked very nice. It had a big window."

"I went to The Windsor of Gainesville. The biggest thing was the guests themselves. The Windsor's residents were very friendly. I wanted to see what the guests looked like and how they were reacting. Every guest that we saw was happy. They were smiling. They were enjoying themselves. So it was more of a family atmosphere than other places that we looked at. The apartment has a full fridge, microwave, and bathroom. It's a real apartment. The living room is separate from the bedroom."

"I really like having my dad here. The staff are considerate, and take the time to answer all of my questions. The building is clean and they take really good care of him. The past year was difficult with visiting him, but that was not their fault- it was covid guidelines. The food is good, I’ve actually ate dinner with him a couple of nights and now he is able to go to Bingo, enjoy Christmas singing and it’s not just through a window. Rooms are always clean and I never smell any urine or the other!! The place is beautiful, and I see housekeeping, nursing and maintenance always working hard and they are always busy. The doctor is decent. "

"My parents lived in The Village for a year. The facility was fantastic. I mean it was a model-type facility. The main difference was the dignity of the people who live there and how they were treated. The staff addressed their residents as "Mr." and "Mrs." not as by their first names. They way they treat their residents was terrific. What they offer their residents for entertainment was what you would expect someone of an adult stature to have. They would take them, for instance, to symphonies or they would have speakers come in and give talks of things that were interesting and stimulating. Their food also was terrific. "

"The best therapy department I’ve seen. My husband is a resident there. Most gave him no chance to return home. My husband is now ready to come home. He has had the benefit of a highly skilled and compassionate staff. I contribute this to an outstanding administration . I highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for rehabilitation and skilled care. I have had numerous interactions with staff. They are highly professional, skilled and kind. "

"We were very pleased with the care our mother received at Palm Garden. The staff was courteous and helpful when we called and always willing to answer our questions. They notified us faithfully about needs mother had or concerns about her health, and walked us all through the covid days gracefully, without being alarmed or heavy-handed. Janna in the Business Office couldn't have been more helpful, walking us patiently through all the paperwork. The dining area was clean and pretty, and the food looked well-prepared and healthy-- like a nice restaurant. Thank you so much, Palm Garden, for your kindness and hard work. "

"Magnolia Ridge Rehabilitation Center was the most disgusting place I've ever been. It's brand new. The rehab people were excellent, but you got to stay in the nursing home part of it to be in rehab. It's a beautiful facility. You think you just walked into the Hilton, but the staff was terrible. I would never send anybody there again. I was there when my sister-in-law was eating and she didn't eat it all. It didn't look good, but I tasted it. It was OK. It tastes like hospital food. The rehab was wonderful. That's a different group of people all together. It's like you step into a different world when you get into rehab. Those people were nice, friendly, helpful, enthusiastic, and everything you can think of that's nice. She was in rehab every day. They need to stop the staff from eating at the front desk at the nurses' stations because all of them are eating at the same time, and they just ignore you most of the time. The staff needs to be replaced with somebody who cares. She was there for one month for rehab."

"My neighbor has dementia, and we placed her in Gainesville Health Care Center. I go there like once a week and they are very good from what I see. The surroundings and rooms are good. They are building another facility, and they are going to move her later. They are nice. It is an older place, but it is clean. She is in a shared room. The staff's ethics is great and from what I see, the food is good too. They have all kinds of activities. They have excursions, if they want. They have bingo and all kinds of different things. I think my neighbor is satisfied. "

"my stepmother was a patient at this facility for over a month. Although the outside of the facility is older, the interior was much better than expected. The areas were kept clean and the lighting was very good in the hallways. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The therapies she received were very good. They also offer other activities for the patients as well. The rooms were adequate with two to a room and one shared bathroom. The lighting in the bathroom was not very good. The patient beds were very old but functional. There are two different areas at this facility and I walked through the other one and I was not impressed. It was a very old style nursing home with small cluttered rooms and old fixtures and furniture. I would avoid that area, if possible. "
