Nestled between busy Los Angeles and the fertile farmland of the Oxnard Plain, Simi Valley is a family-oriented city that’s home to more than 17,000 residents aged 65 and over. Apart from the warm weather throughout most of the year, older adults love this city because it offers a wide range of amenities and services. The Council On Aging (COA) raises money for fun events and educational classes at the Simi Valley Senior Center, and Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District plans excursions to locations such as the Los Angeles Natural History Museum and the Ventura County Fair. In addition, the city provides seniors delicious hot meals at affordable prices every day of the week through the Rendezvous Café program.
To help seniors discover the most senior-friendly locations around the country, Caring.com conducted a new study, “The Best and Worst Places for Senior Living.” The Caring Senior Living Report analyzes and ranks 300 cities and 50 states on the quality of senior living in that area. The cities were graded using 46 metrics across five categories: Health Care, Senior Living & Housing, Affordability, Quality of life, and Transportation.
