"The staff at The Ivy Berkeley was nice and professional. The rooms were very clean. The place was very new. I didn't have any issues with that. The patio looked nice and clean. They have rooftop access. We just quickly passed through the dining area because my mom was getting kind of tired, and it was a nice size. They had just finished with their lunch menu, and so the place wasn't clean, but the staff was working on it. There was a gate in the underground parking."

"My mom was at Dimond Care, and we had a good experience. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, and I would rate them very highly. The food was good, but I think they need to pay more attention to the individual patient's dietary needs. The rooms were a little run-down and dated. They play bingo. I think they can improve on modernization and have more privacy, like instead of a curtain, they can have a partition when there are two patients to a room. "

"My mom was supposed to go to Bellaken Garden; however, they gave up her room. The staff was nice, but the people were just sitting out in the hallways with nothing to do. The rooms were kind of sterile. They were all shared rooms. They had two dining rooms because it was a fairly large facility. They had bingo, trips, and activities. My mom was a Chinese, and a lot of the residents were also Chinese. It was more of a community for her. "

"Our mom is young-at-heart, adventurous, and 91. She chose to move to Oakmont at Mariner Point when she could no longer manage all the aspects of daily life in her own home, but still wanted a place that offered a quality lifestyle. This facility provides that. She loves living next to the Bay with a view of sailboats and downtown Oakland across the Estuary, the terrific staff, and the extremely comfortable and attractive accommodations. It's a relatively small assisted-living facility, which is a big plus. We highly recommend it for folks who need assistance in their daily living, but still know how to live! "

"We chose Elders Inn Alameda for my father-in-law because they were capable of taking care of people in wheelchairs. It's very nice and clean. It's got 5 different courtyards, and you would not know it from the outside because it looks like a tiny little facility, but it goes on very deep. They have very simple activities like Bingo, music, and physical therapy. They have a much simpler lifestyle. "

"Belmont Village Albany was great and looked like a five-star hotel. The dining area was very nice. The person during the tour was very helpful. They had activities all day long. They could go to different areas, and if somebody wanted to come down, they had dining that they could do with family. The facility was very clean, very bright, and very open."

"It was one of our favorites because it's a relatively small community. I think they only have probably eighty residents. Given that it's a relatively small community, there's lots of personal care. We loved the sight. It was a beautiful sight. The rooms were adequate and nice. We liked the staff. They were wonderful. The good news is that it also has a memory care unit, which was what we were looking for. It has both an assisted living and a memory care unit. That was one of our best choices. "

"Waters Edge Lodge was very clean and well-kept, and it looked like they had lots of activities. It's a very beautiful in terms of location. The difficulty for us was my father-in-law is wheelchair-bound, so the facility would not work for him. I've since learned of other people living there who are doing very well. "My mother stayed for 2 weeks at Golden Living as part of a respite program. We were really very impressed with the care and attention shown by all the caregivers here. They made sure she was well looked after. They answered all my questions very patiently. Since I was doing this for the first time, I was anxious and was checking in periodically. Each time, the caregivers answered the questions promptly and patiently. They also kept my mother comfortable, making sure she was given nutritious meals, timely medication and all other such needs, so that I could take my break without worrying about how she was doing."

"Carlton Senior Living San Leandro seemed nice, but it was just located on a busy street. The staff was nice, and the rooms were nice, but I needed more space. They have a lot of activities. The people were friendly, and the place was well kept. It looked like they have more activities for people who are independent. "
