The Best Assisted Living Communities in Marquette County, MI

"We chose the Brookridge Heights Assisted Living and Memory Care for Mom, and she moved. What I like about it is that they make the residents feel like they're still very independent in their choices. They have a lot of choices of things, activities that they can do, and then they get to pick and feel like they're in control of what they're doing, and they provide up to seven activity choices a day. Some are very structured, and some are less structured, but they keep the residents busy all day long, and they keep their families very informed. When you're nervous about your parents being lost, or whatever in the building because it's a new space, they do an excellent job about keeping the family aware of what to expect, "Here's what's going to happen, and we're going to keep you updated with pictures and text." They're very communicative. The staff is friendly, caring, courteous, professional, and they take the time. There's certain staff members that take the time to communicate -- it seems very organized because they have certain staff members that communicate with the family daily on what's going on. It's very well laid out, very easy to navigate, but also very difficult for the residents to escape. It's a beautiful facility. There's a lot of outdoor space. They have live music all the time. It's expensive, but my mom has never had more fun in her life. It's a diamond in the rough."

"I have a friend that has her mother-in-law at Mill Creek, so I went there with her to visit it. They have coffee and a homemade bakery where you could help yourself and that was really good. I know they cook all their food on location too. Everything is cooked homemade fresh in that place. Their apartments were very nice, much nicer than the other facility. They did have a lot of activities. I've checked out their list, and they were pretty comparable with the other facility. They had good security too. Mill Creek was very nice. "

"Teal Lake Senior Living Community is just close to where I live. The staff is amazing. They are helpful and answered all my questions. They knew exactly the right level of care for my mom. She feels comfortable there. It's clean, neat, and everybody's friendly. It's a really good place. She loves the food. It's good and healthy. After a week of being there, she looks completely different. The rooms are beautiful. They have big windows and they're spacious. The bathrooms, the bedroom, and living area are all handicapped accessible. It's clean and smells good. They have activities every day. They go on outings, you can sign up to go for rides to different stores (you can buy things), or go out to lunch. They also have happy hour, raffles, bingo, a puzzle room, crafts, and everything. They're really nice and kind. They have a great activity director. She's really nice and really involved. The other day when I was there, she was supposed to be done at 4:00, but she stayed a couple more hours and went home 6:00. It is a little bit expensive, but it's worth it."
