Home Care for Seniors in Catlett, VA

Catlett, Virginia, was the site of a major Civil War battle in 1862 but is now a quiet village of approximately 300 people, 45 of whom are 65 or older. Aging citizens who are history buffs can visit the Cold War Museum that highlights events following WWII or stroll along the small John Marshall Birthplace Park. AARP recommends several walking trails there, and seniors can follow an afternoon on the trail with a wine tasting at Vint Hill Craft Wine.

This community is a safe one for seniors. The violent crime rate is less than half the national average, and the property crime rate is also far lower than the U.S. median. As a bonus, the air quality in Catlett is 70, according to the EPA,12 points higher than the national average.

There are several home care agencies that provide assistance for seniors in Catlett. According to the Genworth 2018 Cost of Care Survey, seniors here pay an average of $4,385 monthly for homemaker services or $4,481 per month for a home health aide. Based on a 44-hour workweek, that equates to $23 an hour for homemaker services and $23.50 for a home health aide. Both of the rates are somewhat higher than the national averages. The U.S. average for homemakers is $21 per hour, while a homemaker costs $22 per hour on average.

Note: Home care cost data wasn’t available for Catlett, so data for the closest city, Charlottesville, was used.

At Caring.com, we've compiled a comprehensive directory of every home care provider in the Catlett area - complete with community descriptions, amenities, health services provided, and reviews from families who've actually used the service. In addition to our in-depth provider listings, we've compiled a list of resources to help seniors and their families access all the tools they need to age in place safely and gracefully.
