High Desert Resident

I visited this facility as a member of a Girl Scout Troop performing Christmas carols for the patients. I was very impressed with several aspects of the facility. First, the decor was very pleasant, and the whole place was decorated for the holidays very cheerfully. Even the normal decor was nice: clean, modern, comfortable and accessible to visitors and patients. There were no dirty linens or dishes out of place and no crowding in the hallways. In addtion, there seemed to be plenty of staff members to attend to patients' needs, and everyone I met was friendly, congenial and caring. They made sure each patient had the best opportunity to hear the girls sing and enjoy visits. All staff greeted us and the patients with a smile. The place was clean and welcoming with the needs of all patients being met. If a patient was isolated, the staff kindly explained to the girls why that person could not be visited (i.e. too sick). Many of the patients who were not bedridden were also in a festive common room where they could talk to and interact with the visitors. It was a very enjoyable experience.
