My dad is staying at Parkwood Highlands Apartments & Townhomes 55+. They're starting to open up as far as doing stuff around people, as they are getting more COVID shots, so that's good. He misses his home, but it's safer down there, and he's closer to the VA. My biggest issues with that place are the water pressure and the underground parking, which is ridiculous for elderly people -- it was just too tight. I haven't really met the staff, but I know my dad has gone down there because he had cell-phone issues, and they helped him work with it. Other than that, I really don't see them. It's pretty much just like a normal apartment. They have a little courtyard, a laundry room, a workout room, a library, and a sitting room that you can rent in the building that has a full kitchen in it. They play bingo, and they get a monthly calendar of activities, too. I think it's a beautiful place. Although he got a free month as a little move-in incentive, and there's underground parking, to me, I think the price is high for an elderly person.

We have found Parkwood Highlands Apartments & Townhomes 55+. It's a little higher, but it was what we could afford, and it was available. It has everything that we want. The staff was very helpful, friendly and nice. They don't serve food. They have a very nice state-of-the-art new exercise area, they offer crafts, and they offer a nice community room plus a community room in each building. Plus, they have a suite that your family can rent overnight. Cleanliness is very good. They have things close by, plus it's private land. It's in the middle of the city, but it's very private. It's near a library, restaurants, medical clinics and banks.

We went to Parkwood Highlands Apartments. They have no meal programs. They have activities, but no beauty parlor, and no bus to take you shopping. It was very nice, I thought it was great. The apartments were nice, but they didn't offer a lot. They have exercises. The staff is very good. They have a janitor on staff if you need anything. They have underground parking. It's more convenient for us.
