My mom has moved into Aspirus Country Gardens Assisted Living Complex-RCAC. We like the atmosphere, the size of the rooms is like a mini apartment and the tenure of the staff. They don't have a big turnover, so most of their staff that is there has been there 10 years or more, which in this day and age speaks volumes. The facility is very clean and up-to-date. People are well taken care of. They know everybody by name. The lady that makes all of their meals, has been there since they opened the facility. Everything is included. All of my mom's meals are included, they do her laundry, and they do her bedding once a week. They have a whirlpool room where the residents (on a scheduled list) can go up and take a bath in a nice whirlpool bathtub. They'll wash their back, their feet, and their hair. They take care of everything. They would take care of her medications if she needed that. They have a physical therapist that comes in there and does an exercise class with the residents twice a week. It's wonderful. I was very, very fortunate to be able to get her in there. It is so, so very nice. I toured a lot of places and talked to a lot of other assisted livings in the area and stuff. This one makes the residents feel like they're at a home. It's almost more kind of like an apartment complex than some of the other assisted living that I toured where it was just one little room where she barely would have had room for her bed and her dresser. At Country Gardens, she's got a little bitty kitchenette, a sitting area for her TV, and a couple of chairs for when she has company or grandkids or great-grandkids. She's got her own private bathroom. She doesn't have to share one down the hall. They send us out an activity calendar every month stating all of the things that they're doing throughout the month. They're having bingo or having entertainment come in or their socials that they have on Friday nights. It's very, very well rounded. And, not that money should always be the object, but it was cheaper than all of the other places around, and it offered more. Those ladies are wonderful. Their food is really good. It tastes good. It's not out of a box, it doesn't come from a freezer and is defrosted and microwaved. They get good home-cooked meals with a good variety. There's fruits, vegetables, juice, milk, and coffee. The food is very, very good there, and they get a lot of it. They're not starved.
