My father is staying at The Berkeley. It's clean, a fairly new structure, and reasonably priced. We called them every other day, and they would go over the phone with us on how things were going. With COVID, I haven't been exposed that much to the staff, but as far as amenities they were very good. They had a movie theater, and typically, a lot of scheduled activities, but a lot of them have been stopped due to COVID. They have not been allowed to bring in barbers, but once it opens up it'll bring the staff functional. It has a casual atmosphere but professionally run. So far, we are satisfied with the care they provide.

I went to The Berkeley. It was good from start to finish. It's a relatively new facility. Other than that, I would love to have more trees around the backside of the facility. It's surrounded by woods. It's well-kept. The person who gave the tour did an excellent job, and it was nice to hear the perspective of a medical assistant. She had multiple jobs. She did a really good job. Food also appeared to be very good. There was homemade banana pudding in the kitchen. I liked the layout. The kitchen is accessible to both memory care and assisted care, and everybody was very friendly, including the kitchen staff. They offer physical and occupational therapy, but they have activities like hairdressing, doing their nails, watching movies, and sing-alongs. They had several activities.

I visited The Berkeley. The menu of the food looked great, and they have a bakery area. It had a specific wing just for dementia patients because that door is kept locked, so they don't wander. The rooms are beautiful. They have single and shared rooms; but in shared space, when you go in, there are two more doors. They almost have an entryway, and then there's a bedroom on the right and the left. But they're separated, even though it's considered a shared space. So, they share a bathroom, but they have privacy in their own room. The staff who assisted me was very helpful. They have a salon, and they have activities that change weekly. They take the residents out to different things like Pelican's, which is a snowball place down here, or they might take them to the mall and things like that.

My mother-in-law is at The Berkeley. Care is excellent. From what we got to see, the staff all seemed great. We've not been able to go in because nobody can visit. So far, they've done excellent. Communication, so far, has been excellent. She wouldn't take a breathing treatment and they called and let us know that she had refused to take it, which is something that's never happened before, so I would say that they're doing great. She seems to like her room, and she says the food is great. We haven't been able to tour the facility, and we haven't been able to see her. We don't know a lot of anything, but it's topnotch.

The Berkeley is new and it just opened. The appearance is great, the place is medium-sized, and the memory care is separate. They have hairdressing for the ladies. The room my mom is going to move into is spacious and well-furnished. The dining room is more of a contemporary styling. The staff does a great job. The parking is plentiful and the outside is well-landscaped. It's more of in a nature setting.
