My sister was at the assisted living facility of Stonecroft Independent & Assisted Living. She moved in when they opened. We were pleased the day we interviewed and toured the facility. It was brand new, and it seemed okay. However, we were lied to over and over again. They told us there would be certain things, and then they never happened. They told us there would be activities, and she was mobile then, but they never took the residents anywhere. I do think the bus went out one time while my sister was there, but they tried to go without her because they did not have a van that was wheelchair accessible, and they told us that they did. They actually took her that day because they borrowed a van from another facility so they would have wheelchair access. She was taken in a separate vehicle, though, and didn't even get to go with the group. It was horrible. The food was awful. Some days, the food wasn't even really edible. They'd just put something on a plate, and she didn't even know what she was eating. She ordered fast food more nights than she ate there, because it was just awful. They didn't hire enough people to do the job. Across the building, you could hear the call bells going off for 10, 15, or 20 minutes before anybody would answer. Somebody might come in and eventually help you, but they were late with medications. Thank God, my sister was lucid, so she would keep track of her own medicine in her mind, and had to call and tell them it's time to take a certain medicine. The first few days, the facility itself was fine. During her stay there, it rained heavily one night. They had built the plaza courtyard in the center of the community. It was an outside place, like a square where they had grass and a picnic table, and the building of the facility was built around it. Somehow, they had built the building around that with no way for the water to escape, so that area filled up with water. It was like a swimming pool outside a window. It's just a facade. The building looks okay until you get in, and there are so many things wrong with the building already. It's cracking at the ceilings, and it's just been opened for a very short time. There was a period of time when the generators were not working, and the power was out for an extended period of time. They didn't even have water, not even bottled water, to give the patients. The families had to bring in their own bottled water. They did not earn their $8,000 a month. I suggest somebody in the government check them out.
