"The Montecito Santa Fe is much more to my liking. It doesn't feel institutional. They have open areas. You can get out and walk around, and you can go sit out in the sun. You have to go over to that dining room to have your meal, so you are obligated to be outside more, and I think that's good. It is more of a resort feeling than it is institutional. We did have lunch there. It was very good. We did meet the guide, and she was wonderful. The villas are like little condos. They're 2-bedroom, 2-bath condos, with a little fireplace in the living room. Those are the most expensive units. We did go in several rooms. They were all well designed and had a more homey feeling."

"My wife is in Sombrillo Nursing Home. It's the best nursing home in the state. I took care of my wife until I could get her into Sombrillo because I want her in that one. She's very happy. She doesn't remember me or any in the family, but she is laughing, and she has lots of friends there. My daughter went up there last Wednesday and she didn't tell them that she was coming but my wife was clean, her hair was done, her clothes were clean, her bedroom was clean, and her bed was made, and they didn't know she was coming. Sombrillo is good. Sombrillo did not have a case during the pandemic. They shut everything down immediately. They checked all employees before they get in and they put plastic around and away from the building so that you could go and look at your patient. We couldn't get in for a year and a half, and now they're open. My wife has been there for two years now. She is there forever because she doesn't remember anyone. It's the best in the state as far as I'm concerned. They have the same activities as everybody else. They have everything they want to do."

"The Legacy at Santa Fe looked fresh and new. They had very nice display of arts in the hallways. I thought that was very well thought-out; however, I felt like it was very institutional. You cannot go outside the building as there is no garden area around it. We saw the biggest room that had a living room, a bedroom, a little kitchen, a big walk-in closet, and a bathroom. We also saw a dining area, a beauty shop, and a salon for hair care and nail care. The assisted living people had come down to an area close to the entrance where there was some music being played. This was around 4:30 p.m., so I thought it was nice to have that little bit of music at the end of the day before dinner. The staff member who assisted me was wonderful. She answered my questions very carefully and she was very thorough. She was very pleasant; she was very good. We enjoyed her."

"They're nice at Kingston Residence. Their rooms are pretty big. My mom has some kind of efficiency apartment but it's very big. Their staff is very friendly and seems to be very professional. My mother likes the food there. They have a lot of activities like bingo, field trips and they eat out for lunch. They have groups come in and sing to them. My mom is happy and has been staying there for five years. I don't really know of anything that they can improve on. I would recommend this to others. "

"My wife's mom stayed for 2 weeks there, she actually was in the final stage of emphysema. The owners personally built this fine facility.The bedrooms were well appointed, nice dressers, beds, closet space.Community living rooms large screen H.D. tv; comfortable couches, chairs, coffee tables as well a quiet areas for reading, writing letters. Bright,prosperous dining area right off the kitchen.All meal prep was readily visible to the folks, fresh crunchy salads, breakfast, lunch and dinner carefully prepared homestyle; just as a family. Windows set low to view the gardens, lawns, tree's, birdbaths and feeders. Vibrant, bi-lingual staff. Ample easy access parking.We were blessed to have had Mom stay at this competent and experienced facility. "

"We are leaning towards Las Soleras Senior Living. It's relatively new. It looks to be in very good condition. It has independent living only. They have a fitness center, a library, a theater, and a coffee bar area. The food was fine. They're set up as a two-meals-a-day plan. The staff was very friendly and helpful."

"I think Ventana De Vida Senior is going to be right for me. It's close to where my family lives. They're apartments, either 1-bedrooom or 2-bedroom. The staff is very nice. They serve hot lunch every day. I want to be there for a while. "

"La Secoya de El Castillo is a new facility, so everything is brand new, but their sister location has been in business for 50 years, so they seem to know what they're doing. I liked the fact that they were very dog friendly. The person who took me on a tour was very friendly and very knowledgeable. It seemed like a well-managed place. If you want a swimming pool, you could go to their sister community (which is about six blocks away) and ride their shuttle bus that goes back and forth. Onsite, they have an exercise room with a trainer, three interior courtyards that are very nicely landscaped, and a little fenced area where you can take your dogs to play. It is only three blocks from the plaza, but around it is a lot of quiet residential streets where you could walk with yourself or with your dog. Then you've got the whole city of Santa Fe right there, so I liked the location."

"I visited El Castillo and liked it a good deal, but there weren't any vacancies. The rooms were a bit dated but still very comfortable. There were lots of amenities, and it was very close to downtown. The person who showed me around was very courteous but didn’t show me around simply because there were no vacancies, so there was very little point. I didn’t see the facility well enough. The price was reasonable; however, there were no vacancies so there was no point pursuing it. "

"We went to visit a family member at Santa Fe Care Center. My sister-in-law is there, and they've been really good to her. She's been there for almost two years now, and they've taken some really good care of her. They've been very attentive to her needs and everything. The staff members have been really great with her. She has dementia, and sometimes it can really be a challenge because she wants to go home so badly, but there isn't anybody to take care of her there, so that's why she's at that facility. She has a daughter and a son, but they can't be with her 24 hours a day, seven days a week. She needs a lot more care than they can give her, so that's why they put her in the facility. It's very heartbreaking, but they've been good to her there, and she's also made friends. The staff, including the nurses, are really good. If there's a problem, they let my niece know right away. They've been excellent with her. I'm not there most of the time when she eats, but they seem to have a healthy and varied diet. My niece says that their food is always very good, too. They're very clean and everything's very sanitary. They do the rosary, and they have bingo. They have different things, like one day they'll have milkshakes for them and the next time they'll have cake and ice cream or cookies. They're always having something for the residents and always celebrating something."

"The staff, from nurses, social workers and therapists were helpful, caring, and responsive. It made my 2week, surgery rehab stay supportive and manageable. "

"My dad has moved into Sierra Vista. It's a really caring, loving home environment. It feels like a little home. It's for dementia care. They only have 24 residents. They have shared rooms and private rooms. My dad is in a private room. They have a common area where they can watch TV. It's a pretty big common area, and then they have a big dining area where they can all go sit and dine together. The dining area is like you would be in the kitchen at home. They have a nurse's station where the nurse gives them the medicine. Their bedrooms are all up to the side of the halls. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I like the fact they're not just residents. They say that they're elders, as like a respect for older person, and I like that. I didn't hear that term very much at the other ones, and that's what I really liked about it. The staff ratio to the elders is very low. So it's really where they can really focus on the people and the people staying there. They do music for them. They actually have a lady that comes in and does arts and crafts. She does pottery and painting with them and helps them out. They have different activities, like dancing and stuff. They don't let them stay in bed. They get them up out of bed and get them all in a common area so they can interact with each other. They actually have live animals there so they can see the animals and interact with the outside and get sunshine and stuff like that."
