I love this place. I’ve been here a few months and I can say the kitchen has a tremendous amount of choices and the food is excellent. The activities department is 100% I always enjoy myself. They have the best administrator in New Jersey named Mira who is excellent at making sure things are well.

Good evening. My placed my mom into the Buckingham in July of 2021. I have to say that they take such good care of her. The staff is very attentive and helpful and The Place is super clean. They off plenty of activities for the residents as well which is great. They also offer entertainment on certain days. They are also attentive when it comes to my moms medications as well.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I spent 11 days at the rehab center and had a very good experience. I found the therapists, nurses and aids listened to me and worked with me. I told the therapists I had more energy in the morning and would prefer if my sessions could be in the morning and they scheduled my sessions for the morning The nurses reviewed my medication schedule and adjusted as was necessary. I would suggest that the morning after you are admitted you review your medications, the dosage and schedule with the nurse as this information coming from the hospital may not be clear. Communicate your needs to everyone politely and you will get what you need. If you want a shower ask for a shower. I had 3 showers while I was there. The dietitian visited me and discussed the menu and what I would eat and would not eat. Any item I said I didn’t like did not come up any more. The food was not very hot but it was all delivered to me room like magic. I would wake up and eggs and bacon or ham and oatmeal would appear and I did not have to cook it or clean up after. That alone gives the food service points. All kidding aside some of the meals are very good. I needed assistance getting to the bathroom at night. I found the aids and everyone very responsive to the buzzerv and came to help me within minutes. Meena the activity director always has a smile for everyone and came by with the daily news letter with the word search that I loved.

The Nurses ,Aides and Doctors took very good care of me.The food was good Dennis would ask ask me if there was anything wrong with the room and next day it was fixed,Meena was very thorough.Gilbert was very good too. One extremely bad thing across the hall there was a patient that cries and screams all the time. She should not be here. The gym was good. Overall I had a good stay.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I've been here at Buckingham Care and Rehabilitation Center for a little over a year now. It is located in northeastern New Jersey in a quiet, beautiful, and wooded suburban area. It has the capacity of approximately 200 residents. The age range is probably from mid to late 50s and up through 80s and 90s. The facility will provide residents with meals, bathing, laundry services, and all the way through to people who require assistance with their medications. If a resident has IV medications, they're capable of handling that. The big advantage to a facility like this is that they can provide the day-to-day care, plus the resource of emergency care if someone needs to go to the emergency room. A lot of those issues could be handled in-house until the ambulance arrives. It's a wide range of services. The facility itself is very clean and very well kept. The staff is very pleasant and very responsive. If I asked one of the attendants to provide me with something as soon as possible, they will provide it. The dietary component is also well done. You have the option of taking what's offered (which is a varied menu every day), or you can make special requests (which is excellent for people who have special dietary needs). In addition to the basic services, the facility provides an exercise room. There are physical therapists who aid residents through a physical therapy regimen to regain whatever they had lost through injury, surgery, or just due to natural aging process. This facility will help restore them to whatever level of activity they are capable of. The overall atmosphere is very residential. It's not like a hospital or a nursing home. For somebody who is not feeling well, it's nice to be in a setting that is comfortable and pleasant. They're very accommodating in terms of visitation by family members. As far as the costs are concerned, if you're paying out-of-pocket, the minimal cost would be about $10,000 to $12,000 per month. It may even go higher. The facility does accept Medicare and Medicaid, as well as private insurance. Overall, the place has been very good to me. I have no interest in looking elsewhere, and I plan on staying here long term. The staff is very attentive and very competent. There's a range of skill levels here from the basic maintenance up through doctors and nurses. I have no complaints about that. You'll receive nursing care, room and board, assistance with your laundry, your bedding, your meals, and your medication. It's basically a full-service facility. The food is tasty and warm, and you can make special orders. If I was a severe diabetic and I said, "I want to have chocolate cake with every meal." They're going to say 'No, that doesn't work for you." They cater the diet to the medical needs of the residents. The facility is well kept, well constructed, and pleasant to look at. The rooms are clean and well maintained. You don't see peeling paint or broken windows. They deal with the elderly and the partially disabled. The activities are consistent with the type of residents that are here, which is good. They have board games. They have an activities individual who comes in to the dining area every day. They spend a couple of hours doing word games and things with group participation, which is good for everybody. There is a gym, and they have physical activity. The staff will make sure that the residents have some physical stimulation on a daily basis. They don't want to just have somebody sit in a wheelchair and deteriorate.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

After a Hospital stay & following Chemotherapy, my husband arrived at Buckingham Rehabilitation Facility to be able to ambulate at home. He required Physical Therapy to improve his balance, stamina & strength. His room was clean & well maintained on a daily basis. He loved the view he had of the surroundings. The interactions with the Nursing Staff/Assistants was pleasant & professional . My husband enjoyed the activities offered such as Word games, Quizzes & Historical pamphlets that were given out daily. He really enjoyed the tranquil environment, the outdoor gardening & Scenery. The Physical Therapy area was well equipped. He enjoyed his encounters with both Physical & Occupational Therapists concerning his care. We're thankful to the Administration & Overall staff for their patience, generosity & professional care . My husband left the Facility with increase confidence in ambulation & stamina & strength - for this I will give a 5 Star Rating.

My stepfather stayed here for over a month. The care was substandard. I kept having to reach out for status on his condition-which was acute. The worst part was, he was supposed to be discharged but because the Buckingham did not get medication list on time to the assisted facility where he lives, he had to remain there an additional 5 days. The insulin regimen they had him on was not allowed at the assisted living facility. They needed to change it so he could be accepted, and then, had to monitor him to see how he did on it. It was their responsibility to do this and they failed big time! Terrible experience.

I visited this facility

Our experience with The Buckingham At Norwood has generally been pretty good. They have a very strong activities program, the care there was pretty good and the nurses were terrific. We liked it there. The physical appearance of the place was good, it's also clean, and they have a nice receptionist.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad was transferred here from Sloan for rehab after being in the hospital for 5 weeks. When he arrived, no one gave him any attention nor did they allocate any of his medications, which he needed. He spent four days at Buckingham and within that time frame, his health deteriorated very quickly because his medicine was not being given properly. The nursing staff is very neglectful and none of the doctors followed up with any of his doctors at Sloan. They gave medication that should of been discussed with his primary team, and therefore caused a set back in his health. Do yourself a favor, and research the facility, plus take a tour. I would never recommend this place nor will my dad be back. Luckily, we are a proactive family and took him back to Sloan to get back on track. Horrible Place!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My family member is a patient and I am disgusted with how the staff treat her. There is one manager that is good, but nothing is ever fixed. There was one good nurse, but she has left. We were left with a snotty, know it all nurse who is very good at her job, but is a miserable person and makes my family member very unhappy and is rude to me as well. The call bell is rung for my family member to go to the bathroom (as she cannot go on her own, as she will fall) and she has waited up to two hours for someone to respond and has gone in her pants. She cannot wait any longer sometimes and has taken herself to the bathroom. Sometimes she makes it and sometimes she falls (which terrifies me). When she does fall, they yell at her that she shouldn't have gotten up on her own. They have bingo every day, but barely any other activities. I have asked them to include my family member in outings, but they never do. My family member is not being showered regularly, but when I question it I'm being told that she had a shower. It's my word against theirs. I'm looking elsewhere. Do not send a family member here.

Think twice before sending your family member here. I saw it first hand when my loved one was asking for medicine ,while I sat there over 2 hours still not given when I called in am & asked did you get the medicine I was told no they never came back in. The response answering call bells is horrible. There are other places so do your homework & talk to others. Yes some people had no issues but after this happened then everything was told to us by former workers, neighbors & friends. So many things were not picked up on our family member & it was too late.

Don't send anyone you care for to this facility. If I could give it a 0 I would. With the exception of a few the people that work there, they pretend to seem as though they care about the individuals that come for rehab but oh no they don't. If the patience pees in their clothing they sit in them until someone says to clean her up or until they get around to it. Then it sits in the hamper for days!!! I went to get her laundry and I couldn't believe how awful it smelled!!! If you need something they just walk on by they do not even acknowledge the patient. My mom is 97 1/2 years old and was very confused. She needed soft, caring and smiling employees. Not ones that truly do not like their jobs! They just put her where they could see her(saying this way they could keep an eye on her but then they just left her there. Aides and nurses are unfriendly and most all the time do not smile. I can't say enough bad things about this place. They have a sign at the main entrance that they are a 5 star facility, what a laugh!!! So not true! Don't send anyone you care or love there, it was down hill for my MOM. Thank God I got her out of there and into a place that cares about her!!

Do not be fooled by the sales pitches these nursing homes will throw out there simply as a business tactic. These so called "ratings" are nothing but a scam. The problem is most people just put their family members in these places and forget about them. They never visit or follow-up, so there's no one to review or comment on the horrors that go on. I took my Mom out of this one in particular, but they are all pretty much the same. Please note that I am referring to the long term care divisions, not the assisted living or rehab. Wherever, Medicaid is NOT accepted. Which is ridiculous in itself. Why shouldn't SENIOR CITIZENS on Medicaid have great care as well. STAY AWAY. I did not work so I could take care of my Mom in the later and final stages of Alzheimer's. If people would get their priorities in order and realize what's really important in life, then QUALITY of life for our Seniors as well as ourselves would result in better care for them and a more rewarding and purposeful life for us as caregivers.

Buckingham At Norwood was very nice and very clean; however, I thought the service was really bad. Nobody came to help my mother to go to the bathroom. She would call or ring the bell, but nobody would come. It happened many times at night, so she would try to go by herself, and that was dangerous because she could have fallen. She said that she refrained from drinking water after 3 o'clock so that she didn't have to go to the bathroom. She stayed there for about 2 weeks. I didn't really like it too much. The room that my mother was in was small. There were 2 people in a room, and it was divided by a curtain. It was small, but it was clean. Sometimes the sun was too blazingly hot in the morning. I wanted a nurse to come and do something about it. They tried to move the curtain, but it didn't move, and they said, "Well, that's that." I wasn't that happy with them. Buckingham At Norwood was a very quiet place. It was very nice. But, interestingly, there wasn't hardly enough parking. Their grounds were big, but they was hardly any parking, so we had to park far away and walk to the facility. It wasn't really that great for visitors. Parking was not so good.

Buckinghham at Norwood was a nice facitliy. It was located out in the Country and it was quiet area. It got plenty of rooms. It got a big staff. There's always plenty of people around to attend to their patient. My dad was really pleased with the physical therapists. He said they were outstanding. They had a big physical therapy area. They really spent a lot of time getting him improved his physical wellbeing. He said that the food was generally good and it was more than what he needed. I would recommend this facility to others.
