"My wife has had some therapy at Bethesda, so we’re familiar with the people. They’re in the process of rebuilding. The rooms are good -- small but nice. They have an activities person, they have Bible studies, and all kinds of activities. The food tasted good, and my wife always liked it. The staff is knowledgeable. We liked it there. "

The décor and appearance of the living spaces is very homey and residents really enjoy the autonomy of having their own space with the security of knowing that staff is available 24 hours per day if they ever need anything. I am in the social service field and have seen many facilities, this one is very nice and clean and the staff is attentive to the needs of residents. The seniors I visited were happy that they could continue to cook their own meals and do normal activities of daily living, just as they did before they moved there, but with help available when needed. Seniors were involved in planning and preparing their favorite meals, which made them feel more like they were in their own home environment. Some of the living environments were set up for communal living for those with memory loss, but I visited seniors who lived in the more apartment units with private bathrooms."

"I was impressed with Island View Manor. I like their staff too. The facility has an elevator. There’s always a staff member inside my friend’s room to answer the door. I have recommended this facility to someone. The room’s layout is not the open type. When the staff is in the kitchen, my friend could not interact with them when she is in the bedroom. "

"I visited Harmony River and it was very good. They had 1-bedroom apartments and they were very clean. They had a dining room, event room and a gym. They had several little gardens too. The staff was very friendly and caring."

"I will be moving into Prince of Peace Retirement Living within 2 weeks. They're across from a park and it's close to downtown. Most of their independent living apartments were one-bedroom, and they're a little over 600 square feet. They would provide a refrigerator and a stove. They also had handicapped-accessible apartments. They had a regular 1-bedroom and a larger 1-bedroom apartment. They also had a 1-bedroom apartment plus a den, and a few 2-bedroom apartments. They had different activities scheduled on different days. They tried to do some social things like movie nights and get-togethers. They also had a noon meal a day for an additional cost. The staff did a very good job explaining what was all available with the cost, what amenities were included, and what was a la carte that they did offer. They had a beauty/barbershop area. They had a store that had some necessities. Like if you need to bake a cake and you don't have a cake mix, you could probably find one down there, toilet paper, toothpaste, and things like that. All the stuff that you need was centrally located. They had an elevator and they also had underground parking. And then if you bought groceries, they had a cart that you could use to haul your groceries up to your apartment. "

"They were very friendly at Vista Prairie at Copperleaf. One of the residents was real gracious to let us in and see the kind of space there was. One of my favorites parts was going past the dining room. The people were just enjoying each other's company. They showed us the courtyard, movie room, card room, and gym with the equipment. They have many different sized rooms, and they also offer apartments for couples. They treated us well, and they did a call back to see if we were interested. They're very nice people. It's a topnotch facility."

"Bethany is a very friendly environment. They have many planned activities available for the residents. They plan bus trips to local stores for residents to go and purchase items for them self's and there living quarters. I have always been impressed with the friendly staff at Bethany. They are always very courteous, and always willing to give a helping hand to the residents and their visitors. When playing a game of bingo they encourage everyone to come in and join the game! It is always fun and encouraging to play. They have also invited a local child care center to bring the children in to play games with the residents. How great it is to see the young and old come together and play a fun game. Some days is music day where they will have local bands come and sing and play for the residents, there are many that still love to sing along! "
