Edgewood Alexandria is small. So, it's nice, but there are a lot of faults here, and I was told in this community that there are faults wherever we go. I think that might be a cop-out because there's always room for improvement. The original building here is not that old and then the addition came later. They added poorly built apartments and I think that could be better. They can't seem to keep employees. Right now, my garbage is falling out of the pail. My laundry isn't done. It's just lacking help. The cleaning lady who vacuums stuff and cleans the bathroom is on vacation. So, nothing's been done since she left and that's not great. Nobody has picked up and done their job. I believe management should have done something about it. The staff people are wonderful. We have some very, very dedicated people here and I love them all. They are just angels. As for the management, they do not fall into that category at all. If there is a complaint, they just pooh-pooh it. So, I would rate the management people a 2, but the staff, such as the nurses and the help are wonderful and I would give them a 5. My room is nice, but it's very expensive. I can take care of myself, but I pay $5,070. I make my own bed, I shower myself, and nobody's around. They don't do anything for me. When it comes to the food, most of the time, it is very bland or very overcooked that you wouldn't recognize them. Every once in a while, we get some decent food though and some of it has already improved (at least they're hot now).

Edgewood Vista is very homey, and it was a good feeling when we walked through. It's clean and smaller and not too big. They have plenty of activities that go on throughout the day. Each day they have a schedule, and they have 2 different courtyards. They go out on different activities more in the summer than in the winter. My mom has only been there for 2 days.
