"My mother has been there for a couple weeks now. She is always clean, nicely dressed, and seems to enjoy all the activities they have. The staff in Memory Care are amazing. As a loved one, who was the major caregiver prior, I really appreciate their patience and attention to making my mother feel special. "I went to Meadows Assisted Living and Care Campus and visited a friend of mine who lived there. I saw the main living area, the dining area, the living room, and my friend's room. When I first came in, the staff were very nice and the people that came into her room while I was there were very nice, too. A nurse came in and the food delivery people. My friend is pleased with them. The facility was clean. They had the main living area for the people to come and watch TV and that was nice. The dining area looked nice. She was eating lunch and the food she had looked really good. She said she pays like $3500 a month and so it's very expensive for seniors."

"Rose Senior Living - Clinton Township was a very nice community. My sister's mother-in-law was there, and I got to visit there quite a bit. She loved it. I was very impressed with that. I think they keep it up real good. The staff was good, too. She played bingo about 3 or 4 times a week and that's one of the things I was looking at when I was viewing senior living places. Not only bingo but even a place to have conversations or socialize with people. My sister's mother-in-law was out all the time there. We could barely see where she was at because she was socializing."

"They were really good. The hallways and the dining room were beautiful, but the apartments were not as nice. The lady who gave us the tour was very nice."

"They had people sharing rooms, like two people in a room. It was a three story building, they had an elevator going up and two floors had the patients' rooms and a nurses' station. The top floor was like a recreational room where you can play cards. You could talk to the residents there and they seem to be enjoying games. The patients are enjoying each other's company. The staff there were very, very nice. They had a church service going on when I was there and it seemed like there's a nice community feeling. If there's something that a potential resident likes to do, they make sure they would have activities in their interest. They seem like they're really engaging the people and getting them involved in things. I would recommend this to others. "

"My brother-in-law moved to Bickford of Shelby Township. I have nothing but good things to say. The surroundings are beautifully kept. The staff is very professional, very courteous, and very pleasant. I'm very happy with the Bickford community. They have a game room. There's a movie night. They have taken them on a bus, and to a restaurant. They have sing days like Western Days, where the staff dress up. They had something for Father's Day, a special dinner. I'm not there so much during the day, but I know that they do have activities for the seniors if they choose to participate. All their food is made from scratch, so I am very happy. It's not inexpensive. I haven't compared that to many. I went by my overall, with the staff and the room, and how they kept things up. I would rather pay a little bit more and have some very caring people taking care of him."

"I toured Oaktree Place. I was going to give them a deposit check, but then they decided my friend needed too much care for 1 or 2 people who would be there full-time. It's a house. It has four bedrooms. They have two people and most of the bedrooms would have been a single bedroom. They had big sofa chairs to watch the big screen TV. If they wanted, they could sit at the dining table. She would make the food for them. The one lady who made all the food and took care of their nursing issues. With other residents they had, my friend, would have put her over the limit of care."

"My wife is a resident of StoryPoint Clinton Township. She was the first person to live in her apartment, so her apartment is brand new. It's a studio apartment to save money. It's a very nice location and it's a beautiful facility. The staff is really, really good. I wish that it didn't change so much, because for instance, like last year when we gave out Christmas gifts to about 8 or 10 of the best aides that take care of my wife, four or five of those people are gone. They've gone on to other places. I wish the turnover wasn't so bad, and I wish they could maintain and keep those best people, but I know it's difficult for them to do that. Their people are well-trained and they keep breaking in new people all the time. There are different floor plans. She's in the last stages of Parkinson's. It takes a Hoyer lift to lift her out of the bed and maybe once or twice a week, they lift her out of the bed with a Hoyer lift to either give her a shower or to have her sit in a wheelchair for a little while. Besides the Hoyer Lift, they have another device called Sit to Stand, which is a little bit similar to the Hoyer lift. They're both very useful gadgets to get a person out of the bed, to stand them up, turn them and sit them in a wheelchair. She's there for assisted living, but we pay a little over $9,000 a month and $4,800 of that goes for her room and board and $4040 goes for her long-term care package. She's a level five care person there. They have levels one through six. There are musicians that come in. She can hear them from her room but she can't see them or get out to see them. They have all kinds of entertainment that comes there. They have people come in with pets. For instance, there's a lady that comes in and brings dogs and they'll come into the room and my wife can pet a dog. It's got everything that you can imagine. It's got a huge foyer and atrium. It's got restaurants inside. It's got a grand piano. It's wonderful. As a visitor, I can enjoy some of those things. The chefs there are very good. They keep the rooms clean. They keep the facility very clean. Because it's relatively new, the parking is really accessible. There are multiple entrances. There's a back entrance where assisted living and memory care are and you come in and you sign a book and then you can go straight in. Someone has to help you exit when you exit. There are fire metal doors. Many of the meals are fried, and my wife has gained weight being there. Of course, she's immobile, but there are just too many fried chicken and too much French fries. There are so many activities that they do. They'll have barbecues outside and they'll have games that they can play. There's a lot for them to do if you're able to do them."

"The thing I liked least about Brookdale Utica is that they have junkyard dogs at the desk. The thing I liked the best about it is it's a beautiful facility. It was really quite deluxe. At the time, most of the people were restricted to their rooms unless they were wearing a mask, so it wouldn't be all that pleasant at the time. I think it's open now. The people at the very front desk, they should have gotten rid of those people, but it was a very nice facility. It's just the front staff, but if you look at the facility and the stuff that they have there, it all looks great. I'd rate the front desk staff a zero, but the marketing person I'd rate a five. They were on a lockdown when I went up there, so there weren't any activities going on in the common room, nor could I see anybody about. It was like 3:00, the restaurant had been closed, and it wasn't open for dinner. It's out of the question because of their crappy front staff, but they have a reputation from a number of other people, that it's a place where the guests or residents are very well taken care of. The food's supposed to be first rate, and there are doctors coming in and out of there. They got a really good reputation. They showed me where the salon was. They said, "This is where you get your hair done by appointment." They have hairdressers that come in. All of it was first rate. That place was very clean, and very nice."

"We placed our beloved mom Charlotte in Brookdale Memory Care in Utica, MI on Valentine's Day, 2020. She was two months short of 97 and healing from a broken collar bone. Choosing Brookdale was THE BEST DECISION OUR FAMILY MADE FOR OUR PRECIOUS MOTHER. The rooms were always clean and well-maintained, the food was excellent - as our mom was thriving - but most importantly, the staff treated Charlotte like she was their own mother/grandmother. We visited at least four to five times a week - at different times - on different days - and we were always pleasantly surprised to see that our mom was so well cared for. She lived an additional twenty months - because of the excellent care she received from Brookdale. At the end, as she became more weak, they made sure she ate - they hand fed her - and they always made her look beautiful - dressing her up, fixing her hair, putting on her jewelry - and this was extremely important to Charlotte. We would highly recommend Brookdale- to people who realize that THE STAFF is the most important component in senior care. Anyone looking for an outstanding, phenomenal staff - people who are competent, compassionate, and energetic- should consider this facility. Our beloved mom passed away one month ago - after spending twenty months at Brookdale Memory Care in Utica, MI - and we know she had these extra twenty months - BECAUSE OF THE CARING SHE RECEIVED 24/7 THROUGHOUT HER TIME THERE.
